poker.pro has covered poker since 2007. Readers trust us with decisions about where to play and what to believe about the game, so this page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to.
Who writes for poker.pro
Our coverage is written by a team of poker writers and live reporters, most of whom play the game themselves. Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and each author has a profile page listing their work. Articles credited to the poker.pro Team are produced jointly by the desk.
How we report
- Primary sources first. Results, payouts and schedules come from the tournament organiser or operator. Interviews are our own.
- Credit where it is due. When a story builds on another outlet’s reporting, we say so and link to it.
- Facts, then opinion. Analysis and opinion pieces are clearly framed as such, and are kept separate from news reporting.
- No rewritten press releases. Announcements from operators and tours are checked, put in context and written up in our own words.
Live reporting
Our live coverage is written on site by reporters at the tables, not from a stream or a press office. Chip counts between official counts are our reporters’ best estimates, and official counts and payouts take priority whenever they are published.
How we review and rank poker rooms
Every poker room and sportsbook we list is chosen and ranked by our editorial team. We look at the same things a regular player would:
- Licensing, security and how the operator treats player funds
- Game selection, traffic and the quality of the software
- Deposit and withdrawal options, and how quickly cashouts arrive
- Rake, rewards and the real value of the welcome offer, including its terms
- Customer support and how disputes are handled
- Whether the site is available in your country
Reviews cover the drawbacks as well as the strengths, and we revisit them when an operator changes its software, rewards or terms. We only show rooms and offers available where you are, so nothing we recommend is out of reach.
Independence
poker.pro earns money through affiliate partnerships with poker rooms and through media partnerships with tours and festivals. These relationships never buy coverage, a review score or a higher ranking. Operators and partners do not see or approve our articles before they are published. Read our affiliate disclosure for how this works.
When we cover an event as its official media partner, we say so in the coverage. Any paid or sponsored content is clearly labelled.
Corrections
We work hard to get things right, and we fix it quickly when we don’t. Errors in fact are corrected in the article; where a correction changes the meaning of a story, we add a note saying what changed. If you spot a mistake, let us know or write to [email protected].
Responsible gambling
Our content is for adults aged 18 or over, or the legal gambling age where they live if that is higher. We never aim coverage at minors, and every offer we list comes with its terms. See our responsible gambling page for tools and support.
