Jim Harnden had to come from behind to take down his second Circuit ring, and at the start of heads-up, it looked like Shannon Lazorko might just run away with it. She was up about 2:1 when Harnden found a big double after flopping middle pair and fading Lazorko’s huge flush draw.
That evened out the stacks, but from there, it seemed like the momentum shifted, and it was all Harnden from there. He chipped up to about a 2:1 lead, mostly with small pots, and by the time the money went in preflop, Lazorko was down to around 10 big blinds.
Lazorko flopped a five with king-five, but Harnden flopped his ace with ace-six, then turned two pair for the win. This was Harnden’s second ring, but his first in Calgary, and first in about 15 years, having won his last one in 2012 in Palm Beach, Florida.
