It took nearly 12 hours on Day 2 to decide the Monster Stack, with a marathon at three-handed. Once Brian Fleming busted in 3rd place, the heads-up match was a bit shorter, but there was still a lot of action.
The lead switched a few times during the final phase, but Stephen Dauphinais picked up a double to the lead when his eights won a race against ace-nine, then he took a huge lead after going runner-runner boat with ace-seven on a board of [invalid notations] and he got big value on the river with a 6 million bet that runner-up Dale Chalifoux called.
That set up a huge hand for the win, with Dauphinais on the rockets against suited paint for the short-stack Chalifoux. The aces held for Dauphinais’s second ring. He previously won a HORSE event here at Deerfoot for his first ring.
