2024 WSOP: Bryce Yockey Triumphs in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Event

In 2024 WSOP Event #8: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed), 733 entries generated a prize pool of $3,371,800, min cash was $10,000. The event lasted three days before Bryce Yockey took the win and WSOP bracelet.

After coming to the final table as a chip leader, everything was smooth sailing for Bryce Yockey as he knocked players out and was cruising to victory until he faced some trouble playing heads-up, where Farid Jattin was giving him a good fight for the title. Ultimately, Yockey won Event #8: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha for $606,654. Farid Jattin won $404,430 for his second-place finish.

Yockey is 227th ranked on the US All-time Money List with $5,111,270 in earnings.

The Bubble

We saw Brian Rast being Final Table bubble boy when his 10♠7♠6♠7♣ didn’t survive against Joao Vieira’s K♦J♥10♦6♥ on 10♥8♣5♥2♠3♦. Rast finished in 10th place for $36,526.

The Final Table Recap

The first player to be eliminated at the final table was Naoya Kihara when he 4-bet against Bryce Yockey and Farid Jattin with A♦A♠Q♦3♣ and got called only by Jattin with A♣Q♣10♦3♦. The board was K♣9♥7♣4♣K♠, and Jattin won the hand with nut flush, knocking Kihara out in ninth place for $46,575.

We lost two more players from the final table when Bryce Yockey knocked out Paul Radcliffe and Joao Simao in seventh and eighth place for $79,661 and $60,405. All three players were all-in on the flop J♣7♥5♥, the turn was 10♠, and the river was 2♣.

Yockey won the hand with K♦10♥9♥8♥ hitting the straight on the turn against Radcliffe, who was holding Q♦J♥8♣3♥, and Simao with 5♣5♦4♣4♦.

Joao Vieira was next to go home after he opened from HJ and called a CO 3-bet from Farid. The flop was A♥K♠J♦. Vieira checked, and Jattin went for a pot-sized bet, which put Vieira all-in, and Vieira called. The turn was Q♥, and the river was K♥, not helping Vieria, who was against Jattin’s top set. Vieira was out in sixth place for $106,795.

Jason Berilgen was out of luck when he called open from Jattin with all of the remainin chips, Yockey also called from BB.

The flop came A♥10♥10♠, Jattin c-bet, and Yockey called. The turn was 3♦, Jattin bet again, and Yockey called. The river was A♠, and Yockey went for a lead; Jattin folded. Berilgen held 6♣5♥4♣2♥, which was not enough to beat Yockey’s 8♣6♥6♦4♥, and Berilgen was out in fifth place for $145,504.

Aditya Sadhu made his last blind defense in this tournament when he called an open in BB from Yockey. The flop was Q♦4♠3♦, Sadhu led shoved, and Yockey called. The turn was 9♠, and the river was 2♣. Yockey won the hand with A♦J♦9♣6♦ when he hit a pair of nines on turn against Sadhu’s 10♦8♥5♥4♥. Sadhu was eliminated in fourth place for $201,419.

Schwartz got knocked out in third place when he opened limped and called a raise from Yockey. The flop was 9♠8♦2♥, Schwartz bet, and Yockey called. The turn was 3♥, Yockey bet with A♥Q♠10♣5♥ and put Schwartz all-in, and Schwartz called with10♠8♠7♦6♥. The river was 8♥, giving Yockey a flush and sending Schwartz home with $283,221 in his pockets.

The Heads-Up Battle

The heads-up started with Yockey having a lead of 4:1. Slowly but surely, Yockey managed to add even more chips to his stack. Jattin was giving good resistance to Yockey before the last hand happened when Jattin open-called a 3-bet from Yockey with Q♠10♠4♥3♦, which put him all in. The board was 5♠3♣2♦8♦J♦, which gave Yockey, who was holding A♣Q♥8♣6♠, a bracelet-winning pair of eights. Jattin has won $404,430 for finishing second.
