With the WSOP Main Event officially in the money and the final high rollers of the summer kicking off, it was another busy and bittersweet day for the Canadian crew in Las Vegas. There were deep runs, bags in key spots, and a few close calls as another wave of bracelet dreams rose and fell under the lights.
Wang Cracks the Main Event Cash
Feng Wang was the last Canadian to hit the payout desk in the Main on Day 4, finishing in 531st for $32,500. It’s the deepest run for a Canadian so far in the $10,000 Main Event, and it sets the bar as the field continues to narrow.
Afriat Leads Canadian Hopefuls
While Wang hit the cage, Eric Afriat bagged up one of the top stacks heading into Day 5. The longtime Canadian pro ended the day in 26th place overall with 2,710,000 chips and is well within striking distance of another massive WSOP run.
Also still alive are Michael Bernstein (700,000), KKPoker ambassador Christopher Alcindor (255,000), and 2024 Millionaire Maker near-miss Stephen Dauphinais (130,000), each hoping to ladder and build heading into the later stages.
Maretz Eyes Mystery Bounty Run
Over in the $1,000 Mystery Bounty PLO, Seth Maretz holds the best Canadian stack with 731,000, good for 28th overall heading into the next stage of the tournament. With the bounties now in play, there’s plenty of room for chaos—and a potential breakout moment.

Foxen and Negreanu Still Swinging in the $50K
Two of the biggest names north of the border are still alive in the final high roller of the 2025 series. Kristen Foxen bagged up 852,000 and Daniel Negreanu ended with 532,000 in the $50,000 High Roller, a prestigious end-of-series showdown that always attracts a who’s who of elite talent.
Both Foxen and Negreanu are no strangers to high-pressure spots, and if either of them finds a gear on Day 2, they could be eyeing yet another final table appearance before the lights go out in Vegas.
Ghazarian Chasing in Mid-Stakes NLH
And rounding out the day, Harout Ghazarian leads the Canadian charge in Event #89: $3,000 Mid Stakes NLH, bagging 241,000 and ending the night 39th overall. It’s still early in the mix, but Ghazarian’s off to a strong start in a field that always combines value and volatility.
