Frankland Cashes Again

After claiming over $600k and the biggest live cash of his life in the $25k High Roller, Mathew Frankland’s next target was Event #32, the $50,000 High Roller. The event attracted a field of 171 players, generating a prize pool of over $8m, with almost $2m for the winner. Frankland made it close to the end of Day 2, but busted in 16th, cashing for a further $107,514.

Rutter 10th in $10k 2-7 Lowball

Two UK players went deep in Event #30, $10,000 No Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship, but neither made the end of the third day of play. It was due to complete, but was extended to a fourth day with six players left.

The highest finishing Briton was Stuart Rutter, recording his 4th cash of the series. He busted in 10th place, not quite making the final table, but securing payday of $35,012, his biggest cash of 2025 (so far).

Elior Sion, the 2017 WSOP $50,000 Poker Players Championship winner was the other Brit who made it to the third day of the event, exiting in 13th for $27,214. This was his third cash of the current WSOP campaign.

What? Is this a Limit Event?

Only one Brit made the money in Event #33, the $1,500 Limit Hold’em, Paul Sokollof, 55th for $3,041.

I wonder how many people made the early 2000s online poker mistake of entering the tournament, only to find out when they sit down that it’s a limit one? Probably nobody, but if I’d played, I would not have been able to resist pretending that had happened to me.

Twenty-two of the King’s finest poker warriors made it through the first starting day, with some familiar faces bagging big stacks, including Sebastian Crane and Daniel Corbett, who both just had top 20 finishes in other events. Here are the Brit-stacks from this one.

Event #38 $100,000 High Roller

Five British poker lions entered on the first day of the $100,000 High Roller, with three of them among the 37 who survived the day. Matthew Beltcher takes over 1.3m with him into day two, with Bern Heath (625k) and Stephen Chidwick (600k) also progressing. Registration is still open for Day 2.

Event #39 $1,500 H.O.R.S.E

Four of the UK’s poker jockeys steered their stacks into the second day of the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E (and yes I do like to use equestrian lingo when talking about this mixed game, apologies for being predictable), however, none of them are in the leading group of riders, or even the chasing pack.

They are all many furlongs behind the pace-setters with David Tarbet’s 43rd place stack of 152.5k being the largest. The other Brits still in are Nikolay Ponomarev (133k), Darren Taylor (75k) and Joe Brindle (74k).

Jack Moore in ICM Chop Venetian

Jack Moore has chopped Event #37, the $800 PLO8 at the Venetian Deepstack Championship. The news of this success filtered through via Steph Chung, with whom Jack chopped. Jack had been in the lead for much of the final table, but Steph soared ahead before a chop was agreed. Jack took $33,470, while Steph Chung’s cash of $39,804 meant she was the official winner.

She had wanted to do a joint winner photo with Jack, but management at the Venetian refused to allow it. In response, Steph posted his pic on her Twitter feed, to honour his performance in this one. Kudos to Steph for this very humble act…and congrats to both, enjoy the cash!

Mohamed Aboobaker Wins $1k Mystery Bounty at Aria Poker Classic

Have to admit, I’ve never heard of this player before and he doesn’t seem to have any results on live poker databases, but nevertheless, I’ve heard of him now and it’s another success for British poker players! Congratulations Mohamed for your maiden win and the $42,005 you scooped with it!
