As the final week of the 2025 World Series of Poker winds down, a handful of Canadians are still finding ways to pick up cashes and build stacks across the last few events of the summer. Mixed-game grinders, no-limit specialists, and rising stars alike are leaving their mark before the lights go down in Las Vegas.
Mozdzen Finds a $25K Mixed-Game Score
Clayton Mozdzen added a prestigious line to his poker résumé with a deep run in Event #98: $25,000 H.O.R.S.E., finishing in 16th place for $51,020. It was a loaded field packed with some of the best mixed-game players in the world, but Mozdzen held his own to crack the final two tables.
While not quite a final table finish, it’s still one of the bigger mixed-game cashes by a Canadian this summer and a solid return in one of the most technical events of the schedule.
Team Canada Hits the Board in the $5K
Four Canadian notables—Alex Difelice, Vanessa Kade, Xuan Liu, and Donald Cowie—each picked up another tally in the results column with cashes in Event #99: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em. All four fell between 91st and 101st place, earning $9,932 apiece for their efforts.

They may not be bagging for Day 3, but there’s still a Canadian threat alive in the $5K.
Plante in the Hunt at $5K Final Stretch
Quebec’s Santiago Plante continues to deliver at this year’s WSOP, and he’s now sitting on another potential deep run. In Event #99, Plante bagged up 1,040,000 chips—good for 6th place overall heading into the business end of the $5,000 NLH. With only a few tables left and plenty of chips to work with, he’s got a real shot at locking up another major final table.

Plante’s been one of the most consistent Canadian performers this summer and has already notched multiple five-figure scores. If this run holds up, he could be looking at a new high-water mark.
Ko Crushing in The Closer
Over in Event #97: $1,500 The Closer, David Ko is sitting comfortably near the top of the leaderboard after bagging 1,155,000 chips—14th overall as Day 2 kicks off. The Closer is always a wild affair with turbo levels and fast-moving stacks, but Ko has navigated the chaos well and finds himself in striking position as the final tables approach.

Stay tuned—between Plante’s deep run in the $5K and Ko’s momentum in The Closer, there’s still time for one last big Canadian headline before the series wraps.
