Taylor Comes Agonizingly Close in $1,500 HORSE

It was another agonizingly close call for Thomas Taylor in his quest for his first bracelet. He bagged a good stack for the final day of Event #39: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. and made it to the final two players.

Daniel Negreanu also notched another small cash in the $10k PLO8 Championship while UK native and Canadian resident Paul Sokoloff grabbed a modest cash from the Seniors High Roller. Benjamin Underwood recorded another cash in the $10k Limit Hold’em Championship while Georg Jancev led 8 Canadian cashes in the $1k PLO. Alex Livingston also continues to cash everything he touches — Livingston took 15th in the HORSE event, then jumped over to record a small cash in the $1k PLO

In addition to cashes, lots of Canadians found chip bags at the end of Friday’s play. Benny Chen leads 7 baggers in the $1k PLO with Mike Leah, Kyle Rosnos, and Don McCall among the Canucks joining him. Jonathan Krela bagged a top-20 stack in Day 1 of the $1.5k Razz, and he leads 5 Canadian bags in that one, while Jeffrey Mahoney was the biggest bag from 24 Canucks moving on from Day 1c of the Monster Stack.

Taylor is Second Best Again

It must be getting a bit frustrating for Alberta’s #1 poker earner, Thomas Taylor. He keeps going deep in big bracelet events, then coming up one or two places short of the big prize.

It was the same story again in Event #39: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. Taylor bagged the 5th stack for the final day of play, and managed to run that all the way to heads up, but then couldn’t overcome Russian Andrey Zhigalov, and had to settle for second.

Taylor pocketed a respectable $131,916 for second, but, at this point, the money probably isn’t that relevant to him — he’d probably give it all back to take the #1 spot and grab the bracelet. The score will put Taylor tantalizingly close to $2.4 million in lifetime earnings.
