Eric Afriat was the last player flying the Maple Leaf in the Main Event this year, but his run came to an end on day 7 for a six-figure score. That leaves just 24 players left in the biggest game at the 2025 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas, but none of the remaining hopefuls are Canadian anymore.
A few Canadians had some decent cashouts on Saturday as well. Kyle Ho led 11 Canadian payouts in the $3k Mid-Stakes Championship, while Michael “Berny” Bernstein led 8 Canuck prizes in the Hall of Fame game, and Surrey’s Henry Oh led the way with the biggest Canadian cash out of 7 total in the TORSE game. Stephen Dauphinais from Edmonton is still stacking chips in that one with just 16 players left.
Afriat is the Best Canadian in Main
As the 2025 WSOP heads into its final week of action, the Main Event is now over for Canadians. While there are still 24 players left alive in the big show, none of them are flying a Maple Leaf anymore.
The last Canadian to fall was Eric Afriat, who had been bagging big at day’s end for the past few days, running near the top of the field. He made it through 7 days of the longest grind in poker, but fell in 29th place late on Day 7. He scored a cool $300,000 for his efforts, while fellow Canadian on Day 7, Maxim Babko, pocketed $165,000 for his 55th-place exit.
Ho Wins Big in Mid-Stakes

The buy-in was mid-stakes in the $3k Mid-Stakes Championship, but the endgame payouts were anything but “mid”. The top Canadian in the field was Burnaby’s Kyle Ho, who finished 34th out of the starting field of 3,797 entries.
That put $39,293 into his pocket, the biggest Canadian score from Saturday outside the Main Event finishes. He led 11 Canadian cashes from the event, including Rishi Makkar, Mike Leah, and Sunny Lubana, who will be adding more than $1,200 to his family’s educational charity thanks to his $12k score for 94th place.
Berny Scores $20k in Hall of Fame Game

Edmonton’s Michael “Berny” Bernstein was the top Canadian finisher in Event #92: $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty. He pocketed just shy of $20k for 10th place (from a field of 1,115 runners) and led 8 Canadian cashes from the event.
Joining him at the cash cage were high roller ring winner Homan Mohammadi with the second-best Canuck score (20th, $10,675), along with Santiago Plante adding yet another cash to his summer total.
Oh, What a Cash; Dauphinais Still Stacking

Seseung “Henry” Oh led 7 Canadians to the cash cage on Day 2 of the TORSE game (TORSE is a variation on HORSE that replaces the limit hold’em round with a round of triple-deuce). Oh pocketed a bit more than $7k for 43rd place, ahead of another cash for Alex Livingston (49th, $6,312), Daniel Negreanu (53rd, $6,312), and Patrick Stacey, Mike Watson, and Jonathan Krela all cashing for $6,011.
Meanwhile, one Canadian is still in the mix with 16 players remaining. Edmonton’s Stephen Dauphinais. Dauphinais had a deep run last year in the Milly Maker, finishing 3rd for the biggest score of his career, and he has a shot at another career-defining run on Day 3 of the TORSE as he comes back in 10th position with just over 1.1 million.

Watson & Setna with Big Bags
In the final few bracelet events on the schedule, Canadians are continuing to post results. Jimmy Setna leads 14 Canadian bags into Day 3 of Event #90: $777 Lucky 7’s. Setna has 2.63 million for 6th place overall, and he’s leading names like Matthew Raffoul, Allen Shen, Vince Lam, Scott Wellenbach, and Sebastian Crema.
Meanwhile, in Event #94: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Championship, bracelet winner Mike Watson leads the charge. He bagged 380.5k at the end of the opening day, good for 4th place. There are 6 Canadian bags in that one, including Mike Leah and Daniel Negreanu.
