WSOP 2025: Kelvin Kerber and Peter Patricio Bring Tag Team Bracelet to Brazil

The bracelet for Event #65: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold’em at the 2025 World Series of Poker is heading south to Brazil after longtime friends Kelvin Kerber and Peter Patricio went all the way. After three days of team action at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, the Brazilian pair each won their first bracelet.

In addition to the iconic wrist jewelry awarded to winners at WSOP, the team from Brazil also shared the top prize of $184,780. That was the biggest share of the $1,208,240 in total prizes, generated from a field of 1,373 team entries.

Early Stable to Final Table

Kerber and Patricio didn’t just randomly find each other in the hallways of the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas — the pair have been friends for close to a decade and a half. “We were in the same stable 14 years ago. That’s how we met. Now we are partners at the table.”

“We have been friends for my whole journey,” Kerber added when chatting with PokerNews after the win. Patricio is slightly more experienced from the pair, with the pair meeting early in Kerber’s poker journey. But winning the big prize with his longtime friend was a real treat. “It’s the dream that everybody that starts playing poker looks to.”

WSOP 2025: Event #65: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold’em Recap

Decked out in the national colours of blue and gold, the Brazilian duo was 4th in chips for the final day’s action, bringing 1.57 million to the table, about 600k behind the Day 3 leaders Quirin Heinz – Felix Rabas from Germany with 2.175 million. Other noatble teams from the final day included Matthew Lambrecht – Jack Nathan, Kristy Moreno – Andrew Moreno, Angela Jordison – Maxwell Young, Pushpinder Singh – Mehmet Siginc, and Jamie Kerstetter – Corey Paggeot.

They were up and down throughout the day, chipping up early when thet sent the Canadian team of Siginc & Singh home in 19th place, but then taking a hit when pocket jacks couldn’t hold against Michael Lancaster. They were quickly back to the chip tower construction, however, after Kerber rivered a flush for a big pot against Kyeongrim Shin.

As they neared the end, the pair was playing well and also running well. Kerber found himself behind with ace-four against pocket fives, with David Sathue of Team Hannah looking to be 70% to grab a big double from the Brazilians. Kerber straightened that idea out when the turn hit him with a gutshot to the 6-high straight.

That sent Team Hannan home in 5th place and set up a quick run to the bracelet. Less than 90 minutes later, the Brazilian pair was sitting with all the chips, admiring their new jewelry.
