Fabian Torres opened to 320,000 from under the gun, and called a three-bet jam of 1,520,000 from Andres Carbonell from middle position after a reasonable spell in the tank.
Andres Carbonell: A♥A♦
Fabian Torres: K♠J♣
Carbonell had the goods, but he couldn’t watch what the poker gods had in store for him.
He walked over to the far corner of the stage, turned his back on the table and clasped his hands in prayer, as a shout of encouragement went up from his rail when they saw the respective holdings.
Carbonell stayed in situ for the whole K♥10♠6♦3♠4♠ runout, only turning around when the shouts of celebration from his supporters made it clear he had held, and he pumped his fists as he returned to his seat.
Andres Carbonell – 3,440,000
Fabian Torres – 2,290,000
