When circling the tournament floor, we got caught by Christoph Knight, who was kind enough to share the story of a 1,000,000 pot with us.
It all started with a six-way pot to the flop that read 9♥6♥7♣. The Small Blind led out for 25,000, which was roughly one third of the pot. Louis Cowen, who’d been the original raiser preflop, raised it up to 110,000. Action folded back to the player in the Small Blind, who went all in for perhaps 350,000. Cowen made the call as fast as the speed of lightning.
Small Blind player: 10♠8♠
Louis Cowen: 7♠7♥
The nut straight of the Small Blind player would prove to be no good in the end, as the board completed with the 5♦9♦. Cowen improved to a full house and won the pot that was just shy of 1,000,000 chips.
Louis Cowen: 940,000
