They say the early bird gets the worm, and today was no exception. Day 2 of the $400 Seniors began at 10 am, and action was rampant. It took under three hours to crown a new champion. Jimmy Mak bested the 459 player field to take home the lion share of $28,974. The field combined for a $143,897 total prize pool, with Mak finding his first ever WSOPC ring.
Mak started the day with 1,370,000 sitting in the upper half of all stacks. Jay Glass was the first to fall, losing a flip with King-Jack suited against Tens. Prince Galaxywalker seemed poised to go deep, as he found a two outer to eliminate Dwayne Reid’s top pair with Ace-King. He picked up Aces back to back doubling both times to sit at 2,280,000. Robertson, left short from the exchange, fell just after against Carlos Alaniz’s big slick.

Galaxywalker’s hot seat continued as he called off Blanca Garcia’s jam for 150,000. His 9♦4♣ cracked Garcia’s Kings after the board ran out 9♣3♠7♠9♠4♥. Mak found a double through Galaxywalker with both turning a straight on the 9♥6♠J♦10♦ board. Mak’s K♠Q♦ bested Galaxylander’s 8♦7♥ for him to take the leading stack. Soon after, Mak four-bet jammed into Galaxylander with him calling off. Galaxylander’s King’s were an underdog to Mak’s Aces, and the run out changed nothing.
Mak now sat with nearly half the chips in play at 4,110,000. A massive three-way all in occurred between Mak, Vage Pogosyan, and Alaniz. Both Mak and Pogosyan made a full house with Alaniz’s trips sending him to the rail. Michael Hollingsworth found a double with Queens against Pogosyan’s Ace-Seven leaving Pogosyan on fumes. Shortly after, he moved all in for 560,000 with Mak making the call. Mak found a pair of kings on the river to best Pogosyan’s pair of sixes.

Quickly after, Mak found rockets again getting it all in against Hollingsworth on the Q♦J♣7♣ flop. Hollingsworth misread his J♦6♣ for two pair, and failed to improve bringing play heads-up. Heads-up was a short affair with Mak having a 5:1 chip lead. He applied maximum pressure leaving Poirier with just 395,000. He shoved his 5 big blinds with 9♥7♦ and Mak called off with K♥2♥. Neither player made a pair for Mak to take the pot, and the tournament.
