The opening flight to the Mini Main Event is starting strong, with almost 100 entries already as Level 2 begins. The field is at 90 entries, with more than 5 hours of late entry available tonight.
1a is one of the turbo flights with 25-minute blinds and no dinner break, meaning entries close about 9:45 PM for this flight, as well as tomorrow night’s Day 1c. Among the players I’ve potted early today are DJ Sharma, who looks to have just arrived from Edmonton, as well as the perennial winner of the API Player of the Year, Mike Malm. Joining them are Glenn Slater, Bobby Jones (who was 3rd in the opening event last night), Korey Dadgar, Shawn Meegan, Andy Truong, Leo Brouwer, Brendan Wolovick, Keivin Yellowfly, Takuma Bergeron, Debi Loomer, Angelo Jopek, Jeff Clarke, Ryan Teixeira, Riley Zehnder, Mathiraj Sabanathan, Kyle Dery, Remy Bhend, Heidi Zekl, Claire Leclerc, Nicholas Peterson, Avery Aloneissi, Ross Wilson, Robin Luo, Victor Ma, Colin Burton, and Amir Khan.
