Seated in the Lo-jack, the charismatic Luke Jacobson open-shoved 825,000. Mazin Karkotli committed his 770,000 stack to make the call for his tournament life.
Luke Jacobson: K♠9♣
Mazin Karkotli: 10♥10♣
Jacobson was in rough shape, and he didn’t produce a miracle on the 5♦J♦4♣5♥8♠ board. He was left with a mere 55,000, which he open-shoved from UTG+1 the very next hand. Andreas Olympios made it 150,000 from the Lo-jack and was then faced with a 1,700,000 shove from Piotr Bajak in the Big Blind. Olympios got out of the way, and it was time for yet another showdown.
Luke Jacobson: 10♥8♥
Piotr Bajak: A♥A♠
Jacobson was in rough shape, but he was the crowd favorite. Perhaps that’s the reason why the Poker Gods gave him some hope on the K♥5♥Q♦ flop. The 8♣ turn gave him additional outs, and the crowd completely erupted on the 9♥ river, just like all of England will celebrate in a few hours if Norway’s impressive World Cup run comes to an end.
Now playing 225,000, Jacobson kept the train rolling, and he open-shoved his stack for a third time in a row, this time UTG. Karkotli was looking for redemption; seated in the Lo-jack, he was the sole caller.
Luke Jacobson: 8♥2♥
Mazin Karkotli: K♦Q♦
Jacobson had provided entertainment for the last ten minutes, but his tournament life ultimately came to an end, as the board spelled out 4♠J♠5♣7♣10♣. Jacobson’s tournament life came to an end, and he became the unfortunate bubble boy. As such, the 38 survivors exhaled, and they all received a plastic bag to put their chips in. They’ll be reunited with the ceramics tomorrow, Sunday, July 12, at 12:00, when Day 2 kicks off. They are all in the money.
That, fellow poker enthusiasts, wraps up today’s poker.pro live coverage from the 2026 THMC Nottingham. Thanks to everyone who’s been following along with today’s live coverage. The blog will go live tomorrow at noon and follow every nook and cranny of the Day 2 action. Before then, the chip counts from Day 1c and the currently on-going 1d will be published as well.
Thanks again, and see you all tomorrow.
