While the big game on Sunday is Day 2 of Event #3, the game that new players can jump into is the $560 PKO. The PKO format means each player’s bounty grows with each elimination as they pocket half the busted bounty and have the other half moved to their own bounty stack. As an early example, in a first hand bustout, the winning player will get $100 in cash, and $100 will be added to their bounty, for a bounty of $300 going forward. By the end of the night, the bounty totals in a PKO are often bigger than 1st place money.
The game gets going at 1 PM, with 30-minute blinds throughout the game (15 minutes heads up). Players get 30k to start, with entries open for 8 levels, or until about 5:45 PM at the end of the dinner break following Level 8. After that, they’ll play it down to a winner.
In the most recent series, Johnny Dalphond was the PKO king, taking down the 108-entry field for the top share of $51,300 in total prizes, while last September, Thomas Woodburn and Ken Kaneda chopped it at the end, and kept their bounties.
