The action for Saturday, June 7 at the World Series of Poker hosted by the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas, saw a few Canadians finding bags and cashes, including the #1 Canadian woman, #2 woman overall, and 9th-best Canadian earner, Kristen Foxen, who found a decent cash in the $25k 6-Handed High Roller.
Scott Groome led 26 Canadians in a big Day 1d flight from the Colossus, which ended its final flight with more than 16,000 runners. Jaswinder Lally and Daniel Negreanu also found cashes on Saturday, with Zachary Zaret also still in Event 27 with a chance for bracelet #2 this week. Foxen also jumped right back into the fray, bagging a decent Day 1 stack in the $25k High Roller.
Foxen with Bag and Cash
Kristen Foxen is the cream of women’s poker right now. With more than $10 million in wins, she is the #1 woman earner in Canada and #9 Canadian overall. That puts her second overall in the women’s global rankings on Hendon Mob, behind only the incomparable Vanessa Selbst. Foxen is about $1.3 million behind Selbst’s total, which is just shy of $12 million, but with Selbst stepping back from the game in recent years, it seems likely Foxen will take over #1 within the next year or so.
To that end, she added another cash to her already impressive resume on Saturday, grabbing 13th place in Event #22: $25,000 High Roller 6-Handed. She brought one of the shorter stacks into the final day, and was an early exit from that day for $87,971, but she immediately went over to the second $25k high roller, this one playing 9-handed, and proceeded to bag 441k for 41st place out of 98 remaining for Day 2. Entries are still open on Day 2, however, so there will be a few more than 98 stacks in play to start the day.
Foxen was the only Canadian I saw in the chip counts for Event 26.
Groome Leads Canadians from 1d of Colossus
There were 26 Canadians still with chips at the end of a massive Day 1d in the Colossus. The final flight got nearly 6,000 runners, for a 4-flight total of 16,301, and 2,326 players moving on to Day 2 from one of the four opening flights.
It looks like there will be 76 Canadians among the Day 2 players, and Scott Groome leads Canadians into the final flight. He is one of two Canadians with more than a million, joined by the top 1c Canadian, James Morgan. Morgan bagged about 10k less than Groome, so they are both very close, but still some way behind the top stack of Lok Chan with 1.635 million, bagged on Day 1a.
Faure Leads Canadians in Big O; Zaret in with a Chance for #2

A couple of days ago, Zachary Zaret scored Canada’s first bracelet of 2025, and his own personal first at the same time. He’s back at it again, and once again, he’s playing with more than two cards. He recently won the $1,500 PLO8 game for almost $250k, and now he’s bagged 300k for 29th place out of 207 returning players in Event #27: $1,500 Big O.

That’s behind the stack of the best Canadian, Stephane Faure (20th, 361k, no picture of Faure was available), and just a hair ahead of Ari Engel with 299k.
