As the 2025 World Series of Poker rolls into its closing stretch, Canadian players continue to keep themselves in the mix across every corner of the schedule. From the $600 value-packed events to the $10K mixed-game battlegrounds, the red-and-white continues to show up—and stack up.
Taylor in Command in $10K Eight-Game
Thomas Taylor is no stranger to the mixed-game grind, and he’s making another serious push toward gold in Event #82: $10,000 Eight Game Mix. The Alberta pro bagged the chip lead heading into the final 13 players with 1,950,000 chips, once again showing off the all-around game that’s made him one of the most consistent Canadian performers of the summer.

Taylor already has two final tables this series in mixed formats—including a runner-up in the $3K 9-Game—and is now eyeing a breakthrough bracelet in one of the most skill-testing events on the calendar.

Li Still in the Hunt in $600 PokerNews Championship
After starting Day 3 in the top 10, Jason Li is still right there with a shot at a massive payday in Event #78: $600 PokerNews Championship. He’ll return sitting 4th in chips with 23,500,000 as one of the final tables approaches.
It’s already been a standout series for Li, and with just a few players between him and WSOP gold, this could be his moment. The $600 event has drawn thousands of entries, but Li has weathered the chaos and now sits poised to make a serious push.
Zhao and Pilot Stack Big in Summer Celebration
Two more Canadians are making waves in another massive-field event. In Event #80: $800 Summer Celebration, Zizhu Zhao and Shawn Pilot both return near the top of the leaderboard. Zhao sits 2nd overall with 2,285,000 chips, while Pilot is right behind in 3rd with 2,190,000.
It’s still early in the money, but both players are well-positioned for a deep run in an event that promises big prizes and fast action. If they can keep up the pace, this could turn into a double Canadian sweat heading into Day 3.
Livingston and Pineault Add to Summer Totals
Two familiar faces found another cash each to add to their growing series totals. Alex Livingston banked $22,711 in Event #82: $10,000 Eight Game Mix for a top-30 finish, continuing his steady march through the mixed-game events this summer. It’s yet another solid score for the veteran grinder, who’s shown remarkable consistency in 2025.

Meanwhile, Karl T Pineault picked up $12,060 in Event #78: $600 PokerNews Championship, following up his deep Millionaire Maker run earlier in the series. Pineault continues to rack up results in big-field no-limit events and remains one of Canada’s strongest performers in that lane.
