Michael Baldwin just took the lead with more than 2 million in front of him after making a huge river call. The hand started as a 5-way pot after Baldwin made it 40k early and got four calls.
The flop was K♣4♥9♣ and action checked to Raj Sabanathan, who fired 125k into the pot. That pushed out “The Rock” in the big blind before Baldwin smooth-called it. Antonio Ma and JJ Johstone backed away to leave them heads-up to the 3♦ turn.
Baldwin check-called for 250k and the clubs came on the 10♣ river. Baldwin checked once more, and Sabanathan slid out a bet of 600k, most of what Baldwin had left behind. Baldwin hit the tank for about a minute, and finally slid out the call. Sabanathan showed pocket sizes while Baldwin was on [KsQc[/pcn] for top pair and a nice blocker to the clubs.
“Once I start bluffing, I can’t stop,” Sabanathan said with a smile as he was left with about 300k in front of him while Baldwin has more than 2 million.
