Martin Streaks Ahead in Day 1b as Boatman Qualifies
Day 1b of the €150 Mini Main Event almost matched the huge numbers seen in Day 1a, with 240 tickets being logged, meaning 36 players would qualify for Day 2.
Christian Martin of Spain became the first player to cross the seven-figure mark, accumulating a massive stack of 1,491,000, almost three times that of his closest challengers, fellow countrymen Carles Giner (571,000) and Sergio Lopez (561,000).
Martin found a good river call versus a big overbet against Valentin Ivanov, and benefited from a mistimed hero-call from Jose Manuel Monsonis, while Giner burst the bubble, busting Lucas Garcia-Fayos in a brutal cooler. Lopez’s stack primarily arose from a double knockout.
PartyPoker Tour team member and EPT Paris champion Barny Boatman (284,000) found a healthy stack, joined by fellow Brits Andrew Ward (384,000) and Oliver Hutchins (156,000), with the full list of qualifiers below.
