Penultimate PPT for 2025 Goes at Yellowhead

Pure Poker Tour 2025 Series #4 Yellohead Banner

The 2025 Pure Poker Tour season is nearing the end, with the second-to-last series of the year set to run in Edmonton at Pure Casino Yellowhead. Live satellite action gets going across town at Pure Casino Edmonton on Sunday, Sep 14, the first of 4 live satellites in the run-up to the first event on Sep 18.

The Seniors game on Sep 18 marks the beginning of 11 days of poker action, including PLO, bounty games, turbos, and deepstacks. As always, the main proceedings will run in the gorgeous Pearl Showroom. Normally the sight of concerts and other events, Pearl exclusively plays host to poker for the duration of the series.

PPT Action from Sep 18 – 28

As usual on the PPT, the action kicks off with the restricted-entry Seniors game on Sep 18 at noon. That game is only open to players 50 years of age or older, but younger players will still get a shot at a PPT trophy in the Half & Half game starting at 4 PM. Opening day action caps off with a satellite for T$1,900 in tournament dollars.

That leads into the opening multi-day game (Event #3), which straddles the fall equinox. Event #3 will play its flights in the summertime, but players who make Day 2 will have to wait until fall to get paid out.

Event #3: $670 NLH

  • Dates: Sep 19 – 21
    • Day 1a: Sep 19, 1 PM
    • Day 1b: Sep 20, 1 PM
    • Day 2: Sep 21: 1 PM
  • Blinds: 40 Minutes
  • Start Stack: 25k
  • Late Entry: 9 Levels (~8:15 PM)
  • Day 1 Ends: 12.5% of the Field

Most of the opening weekend is dominated by the multi-day Event #3, but there are smaller side events in the evening on both Friday and Saturday for players looking for smaller games or who don’t have any luck in Event #3. Sunday, which features the final day of Event #3, also features the Big Bounty game with $200 bounties from a $560 buy-in ($300 + $200 + $60).

Mid-week action will feature the 6-Max game, a two-day event that runs Day 1 on Monday, Sep 22, and brings back the money players on Sep 23 for the endgame. Other games during the week include a one-day $560, a $450 PLO game, and a little bounty on Friday night.

Ouellette Looks to Defend Main Event Title

PPT #3 Main Event winner Matthew Ouellette

Back in August, across town at Casino Edmonton, it was local grinder Matthew Ouellette who found his way to the Main Event top spot. Ouellette is a regular at PPT events, and he picked up his first PPT trophy in the process, though he was ever-so-close in 2023 when he finished runner-up to Mike Honeyman in that year’s Calgary Main.

Ouellette also has four other PPT final tables on his resume and a slew of other cashes, and no doubt he’ll be back looking to add more crystal to his trophy case in this series. He gets his chance to defend the Main Event title starting on Sep 26.

Event #14: $1,100 Main Event

  • Dates: Sep 26 – 28
    • Day 1a: Sep 26, noon
    • Day 1b: Sep 27, noon
    • Day 2: Sep 28: noon
  • Blinds: 40 Minutes (60 Minutes on Day 2)
  • Start Stack: 30k
  • Late Entry: 9 Levels (~7:15 PM)
  • Day 1 Ends: 12.5% of the Field

The final weekend of play also features the last-chance satellite to the Main Event on Friday night, as well as the Team Event on Saturday and the Last Chance game to close out the series on Sunday.

I’ll be on the floor for this one with exclusive coverage here on poker.pro, though I may choose to play the odd event and bring in relief pitching. There is already satellite action running online, as always at KKPoker, with live satellite action starting on Sunday, Sep 14, and alternating between the two Edmonton properties for a total of 4 days until the opening action on Thursday.
