  • Kurtis Ruhl Defeats Reza Yazdani for PLO Main Event Title

    Level:23 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:1/60
    Prizes:$56,430
    Local Time:4:30 PM

Kurtis Ruhl hasn’t been playing as much lately as he used to, but it looks like he hasn’t lost much of his game while he’s been on the golf course. He brought the chip lead into heads-up against Reza Yazdani, and never gave it up.

Yazdani found a double during heads-up to get up over a million, when he hit the nut flush over a smaller flush for Ruhl, but that was as far as he was able to get. Ruhl’s aggression near the end chipped him down consistently, and in the final hand, Ruhl flopped a pair with backdoor flush and straight outs, and the turn and river hit him right where he needed to get the straight. Yazdani mucked his hand when he saw Ruhl’s straight, and all the chips went across the table.

    Final Hand PLO Main

This was Ruhl’s 7th live win, with four of those wins coming in four-card games. The win today should push him close to $240k in live earnings.

  • Flush over Flush Doubles Yazdani

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:2/60
    Prizes:$56,430

Kurtis Ruhl raised the button to 75k, and Reza Yazdani called. After a check from Yazdani on the 289 flop, Ruhl potted for 175k, and Yazdani called to the 4 turn.

Both players checked to the 5 river, where Yazdani shoved his remaining 235k. Ruhl snapped it off, but mucked when Yazdani showed A1062. Ruhl said he had a smaller flush.

  • Ruhl is the Big Leader

Three successive hands have seen a raise, a three-bet, and a fold. In the first two, it was chip leader Eric Wasylenko who raised to 35k. In the first case, he raised from the cutoff, and Rob Limpert three-bet the small blind to 170k, forcing the fold.

In the next hand, Wasy again made it 35k from the hijack, then folded to a 117k three-bet from Kurtis Ruhl. Immediately after that, it was Ruhl’s turn to fold after he made ot 25k on the button, but mucked when Ali Khani raised the small blind to 97k.

Liu was on QQ32 against J1054. Liu was drawing to a bigger two pair & the straight, but Ruhl was on top with two pair. 72 on the runout didn’t improve Liu, and they were down to 7.

    Local Time:7:20 PM

Entries are now closed for the PLO Main Event, with the final field at 60 unofficial entries. If that holds when the prizes are posted, it should mean 8 players sharing in $56,430 in prizes later tonight. That would put them 16 off the money spots.

    Prizes:$56,430
    Local Time:10:45 PM

The PLO Main field is down to 10 players left. Ross Wilson was the most recent exit, though I wasn’t on hand to see his final hand. They are now two eliminations off the bags, but the average stack is still 75 big blinds, so it could still take a while to get down to 8.

“Did you come to watch me bust out?” Ross Wilson asked with a smile when I got to the table.

Wilson opened under the gun to 12k, and Leo Zhang defended his big blind. Zhang checked the A39, then raised it up to 31k after Wilson fired 12k. Wilson mucked his hand to send the pot to Zhang.

    Entries:18/60
    Prizes:$56,430

That also means today’s action will end when they hit 8 players, with the final 8 returning Friday for the Day 2 money play.

    Entries:24/60
    Prizes:$56,430
    Local Time:7:20 PM

Entries are now closed for the PLO Main Event, with the final field at 60 unofficial entries. If that holds when the prizes are posted, it should mean 8 players sharing in $56,430 in prizes later tonight. That would put them 16 off the money spots.

  • Less than 15 Minutes to Enter

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:23/59
    Prizes:$55,490
    Local Time:7:05 PM

Just under 15 minutes remain in the dinner break for Event #13, and the field is at 59 entries. That puts the prizes over $55k, but there may well be one or two more entries before dinner is complete. I’ll update the numbers shortly after they return from dinner, then confirm the final numbers when the prizes are posted.

Entries are open for almost three full levels, plus the dinner break following Level 9, so it seems likely they’ll break 50 entries for this one before it closes, but it’s looking like 60 would be the upper limit for entries.

    Entries:2/60

Kurtis Ruhl raised the button to 75k, and Reza Yazdani called. After a check from Yazdani on the 289 flop, Ruhl potted for 175k, and Yazdani called to the 4 turn.

Both players checked to the 5 river, where Yazdani shoved his remaining 235k. Ruhl snapped it off, but mucked when Yazdani showed A1062. Ruhl said he had a smaller flush.
