Heads up lasted exactly one hand. Shawn Taghavi shoved with pocket queens (the 3rd time he got that hand since they moved to the poker room at 2 AM), and Cindy Grabia called it off with ace-jack. Taghavi held when the board ran out to four diamonds, with him holding the queen of diamonds, but his queens would have held without the flush. Grabia earned $5,795 for 2nd, while the win was worth $8,415 for Taghavi.

Weston Pring was on fumes after doubling up, and those fumes were all-in in the blinds. Shawn Taghavi & Cindy Grabia both called. Taghavi shoved the flop and Grabia got out of the way, leaving Pring looking for a trey with pocket threes against pocket nines for Taghavi. Pring couldn’t get there, and Taghavi had a huge lead going to heads up against Grabia.

Weston Pring shoved the small, and Shawn Taghavi called blind from the big, after getting the count of 165k. Pring was on pocket kings, against jack-deuce of hearts for Taghavi. Taghavi hit a deuce on the flop, but couldn’t find any more as the board ran out 7♦9♦2♦Q♥8♦.

Weston Pring raised his button to 70k, and Shawn Taghavi called from the small blind. They both checked it through the 6♥Q♣4♦7♦ flop & turn, but Taghavi fired 100k on the 5♥ river.

After some time in the tank, Pring called with ace-five, but Taghavi’s seven-six of spades hit two pair for the win.

Taghavi rolled over pocket sevens, and Pring was looking for a king with king-deuce. Taghavi faded most of the board, but Pring found his king on the river to stay alive.

Dale Campbell woke up with pocket tens and got his chips in. Shawn Taghavi is running pure, however, and woke up with queens again (in the previous hand, he doubled through Cindy Grabia with queens over ace-king). The queens held on a low board, and Campbell was out in 4th place.

It was the most classic of races with Taghavi on queens against ace-king for Grabia. Grabia flopped a king to take the lead, but Taghavi found a queen on the river for a set and the double.

Cindy Grabia raised to 55k from the button, and Dale Campbell called from the big blind. They both checked the 5♥10♠6♥ flop, and Campbell fired 55k on the Q♠ turn.

Grabia called to the J♠ river, where Campbell fired 55k again. Grabia called, and both players were on the flopped heart draw, but Grabia’s queen-jack of hearts was better than Campbell’s ten-seven of hearts.

They are down to 4 remaining in the side game now after Rodney Hafso ended his night in 5th place. The final four players are now moving to poker to finish out the night.

In May, George Mounsef made it through 95 entries for the biggest share of the $27k in prizes. He defeated Tyler Foran heads-up, after trading the lead during a short but active heads-up.
