A Decade at the Top

Triton Poker launched in the Philippines in 2016, holding its first event in January of that year before building out a full Manila series. Malaysia’s Wai Kin Yong won the HK$500,000 Main Event in November 2016, taking home $2,080,556 from a field of 44 unique players that included Bryn Kenney, Sergio Aido, Mustapha Kanit, Fedor Holz, Erik Seidel, Dan Cates, and Tom Dwan. The prize pool cleared $6.3 million. A decade later, the tour is running 32 tournaments across 26 consecutive days, paying out more than $100 million across a single season.

Dan Dvoress has defined the 2026 season. The Canadian won three events in Montenegro, taking down the $25,000 NLH Golden Decade, the $100,000 PLO Main Event, and the $25,000 PLO Turbo Bounty Quattro. The NLH Golden Decade victory completed what the tour calls the Triton Trident, a career achievement for winning across NLH, PLO, and Short Deck.

He joins Jason Koon and Mike Watson as the only players to hold titles in all three formats. He heads into Northern Cyprus leading the Ivan Leow Player of the Year race with 4,376 points, 1,108 ahead of Isaac Haxton in second. Ben Tollerene is third with 3,096 points, with Wai Kiat Lee and Punnat Punsri also within striking distance. The $200,000 in POY money goes to whoever finishes on top of the SHRS. For the first time in tour history, payouts extend to the top 10 finishers.

Paul Phua, a co-founder of the series, won the $150,000 10th Anniversary Special at the Jeju stop in March. He won $3.2 million. That same event format returns here as the $150,000 10th Anniversary Special on November 24-25, built for the occasion.

Before the December Rush

Northern Cyprus wraps up November 30, and the calendar gets crowded fast after that. EPT Prague runs December 2-13 at the Hilton Prague with the €5,300 Main Event starting December 7. WSOP Paradise runs the same stretch, December 2-17 at the Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas, with 20 bracelet events, $120 million in total guarantees, and a $26,000 Super Main Event carrying a $50 million guarantee that gets underway December 10.

The WPT World Championship will already be underway, as the Triton Poker SHRS concludes at Wynn Las Vegas from November 27 through December 21, anchored by a $10,400 Main Event with $1 million added starting December 13. The players who show up in Northern Cyprus in November are walking into one of the richest 60 days the calendar has ever produced.
