2026 Spring Super Stack – Event #5: $340 NLH Progressive Knockout

It was getting late when Wayne Hoffert and Todd Oakley got heads up, and they decided to take their money and run. Since both top spots in a PKO game have the same payout, they both earned $2,719 from the prize pool. Hoffert had the biggest stack when they quit, so he took the official win.

Both players also added to their stash with some decent bounty cash. Hoffert added an extra $2,100 to his total for $4,819, while Oakley bagged $3,400 in bounties tonight, for a total of $6,119.

This was Hoffert’s seventh live win, but it’s been a while since he’s stood atop a poker podium. His last win was right here at Deerfoot back in the 2019 Fall Super Stack, where he won the $500 NLH game. The score tonight will push his Hendon Mob earnings to just a fraction under $200k.

Alexandre Fortim flopped top pair against Todd Oakley, and his money went in. Oakley was drawing to a heart flush, however, and the turn delivered the romance for Oakley and sent the Sherbrooke resident out in 3rd place. He pocketed $2,387 in combined prizes tonight.

Corey Arsenault was the short stack after the break, and while he managed to take a couple of pots with shoves that weren’t called, he ultimately ended his day in 4th place. In the final hand, the money went in on the K♥Q♦10♥ flop, with Arsenault shoving, Todd Oakley reshoving the big stack, and Wayne Hoffert calling off his stack as well.

Arsenault said he misread his hand, turning over jack-eight. “I thought I had jack-nine,” he said, which would have flopped the straight. Oakley was best with king-eight of clubs for top pair, but Hoffert was drawing to both hearts and Broadway with ace-three of hearts.
