poker.pro is delighted to be back in the beautiful Greek port city of Thessaloniki, which boasts a history stretching back more than two millennia. Founded over 2,300 years ago, and named after the sister of Alexander the Great, the city has been shaped by centuries of triumph and turmoil.
This week, a different kind of battle takes place, fought with chips and poker strategy rather than swords, as poker players descend on the stunning Vergina Theatro at Regency Casino for the Novibet 2026 Greek Poker Odyssea, aiming to write their own tale of glory.
The festival is already well underway, with the €500 Mini Main creating a prize pool in excess of €160,000, and the final 15 combatants scheduled to return today, June 14, for the final day. Stavros Stavropoulos leads a field including Lorenzo Arduini and Andreas Vlachos, all vying for the €35,395 first-place prize.
Meanwhile, 41 players return for the final day of the €400 Mystery Bounty, with Andreas Paliogiannis topping the standings at the start of play, and best placed to seize the €9,280 top prize.
The crown jewel of the festival and the focus of our coverage, the four-day €1,000 Main Event, also gets underway, with Day 1a scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m local time.
With an expected estimated prize pool of €500,000, four starting flights are scheduled from June 14 – June 16. Players will receive a starting stack of 100,000 at blind level 300/500/500, with the clock set to 40-minute levels, and unlimited reentries permitted.
Late registration remains open until the end of Level 11 in each starting flight, with play scheduled to conclude at the end of Level 13. Day 2 qualifiers will return at 3 p.m on June 17 for Day 2, where the clock will be increased to 60-minute levels, while Days 3-4 will feature 75-minute levels.
Anastasios Vardalis is the defending champion, after taking the trophy and €34,546 following a five-way deal in the 2025 version, which featured a €600 buy-in and attracted 529 entries.
