Before this series began, Khairuddin Akbari had no wins, and just a single cash on his Hendon Mob profile. Now, less than halfway through the series, he has two trophies to add to his profile. He chopped the $340 NLH a couple of nights ago, taking the win in a 4-way ICM deal, and tonight, he went from the short stack when they started the final table, to the winner.
He had to come from behind all night, as he was about 2:1 down to runner-up Richie Tran to start the final phase. That stayed the same through most of the heads up, as they chopped a lot of pots, and traded a few smaller scoops to keep the stacks roughly the same,
That changed quickly when Akbari scooped a pot with two pair on the top, and boat over boat on the bottom. That gave him the lead, and it wasn’t long until Tran’s final chips went in.
Akbari check-shoved the flops over Tran’s bet of 120k, and Tran called it off with a pair on top and straight draws on the bottom. Akbari had already hit his diamonds on the top, and when the board ran out, he hit his hearts on the bottom for the double-flush scoop and his second PPT trophy in three days.
