Rob Lothian put on a stellar performance on his way to winning his second Seniors trophy. The opening event of the series saw 106 entries drawing in a total prize pool of $30,210. Rob Lothian bested Brett Worton in heads-up play to take home the lion share of $8,570. Worton took home $5,910, with every player in the money getting at least $670.
Lothian came out of the gate as the chip lead. He sat with nearly double the next closest, as registration came to a close (422,000). Play was rapid to the bubble, with Steve Azizi falling to send the remaining players into the money. Lothian found a quick elimination on Gerald Chung with pocket aces to bring play ten handed. Worton woke up with them shortly after, to send Bill Thomson out and bring play to a final table.
Johnny Cherchuk was on fumes, and moved all in for 93,000. Cherchuk used his one time, to find a runner-runner straight. From there him, Lothian, and Worton found the remaining eliminations to bring play three-handed. Shortly after, Lothian flopped a set, against Cherchuk to bring play heads-up. Lothian was quick to double, winning a flip with pocket nines. Worton battled back, but would ultimately fall when he called off Q♠10♠ against Lothian’s K♣Q♥.
