Maria Rodriguez opened to 20,000 from the button, and Francisco Mendez defended the big blind.
On the J♦9♠8♦ flop, Mendez checked to Rodriguez, who fired out a bet of 20,000.
Mendez quickly moved all in for a total of 107,000. Rodriguez peeked at her cards, shrugged her shoulders, and made the call.
Francisco Mendez: J♥2♦
Maria Rodriguez: K♣J♣
Both players had top pair, but Rodriguez was well ahead on the kicker front. The 4♣ turn was a brick, but the 2♣ hit on the river to give Mendez two pair and the double-up.
Francisco Mendez – 279,000
Maria Rodriguez – 38,000
