Cristian Popescu opened to 160,000 from the Cut-off before Andrew Mathews moved all in for 770,000. Mihail Zglavoci re-shoved for roughly 1,000,000 from the Big Blind, which was enough to scare Popescu away.

Zglavoci had a pretty hand, but it couldn’t beat pocket threes as the board spelled out K♠2♣10♠9♦4♣. Mathews doubled, and Zglavoci was left with breadcrumbs. A few hands later, he moved all in from the Cut-off for what was now 280,000, after Jonathan Roberts had opened to 160,000 from the Hi-jack. Roberts made the call.

“I haven’t won any of these situations today,” Roberts assured Zglavoci that he was in good shape. The Poker Gods decided to stir the pot and delivered the 9♣6♥7♥ flop. “It’s not over,” set-flopper Roberts delivered a pep talk to Zglavoci. “Now it is,” one of the other players at the table declared, as Roberts improved to a full house on the 6♦ turn. The 10♠ river was pointless, and Zglavoci was eliminated in seventeenth place for £550.
“I thought I’d try pre-complaining and see if it worked,” Roberts said as he stacked his newly-won chips.
