Two First-Timers Take Wednesday Trophies

Two more trophies were awarded at the second edition of the 2026 Pure Poker Tour on Wednesday, May 13, and both winners were hoisting a PPT trophy for the very first time.

Wednesday’s action opened with the $560 NLH, which drew 61 entries for prizes of $28,975. Later in the evening, the PLO Big Bounty kicked off at 6 PM, drawing a crowd of 62 entries for $12,400 in bounties and $17,050 for the payouts ($29,450 combined prizes).

Meanwhile, not much likely changed at the top of the Player of the Series standings. While I don’t have access to the numbers right now, only a couple of players from Wednesday’s action figure at the top end of the PoS race.

Johnny Dalphond found a few points for 6th place in the PLO Big Bounty, as did Levi Jones for 5th place in the same event. However, those results won’t likely be enough to put them close to leader Ross Wilson.

Brian MacNevin Gets First Live Win in $560 NLH

Event #11: $560 NLH ($500 + $60)

  • Entries: 61
  • Prizes: $28,975
  • Winner (1st Place): Brian MacNevin ($9,180 After Deal)

It was about 12 hours from start to end in the $560 NLH, and in the end, first-time winner Brian MacNevin was the player with all the chips. Entries closed after about 5 hours of play with 61 buy-ins, for prizes of almost $29k, and it took another four hours to make it to the final table.

Shawn Taghavi & Rob Limpert were the leaders when they made it to the final table, with just 1k between their stacks, and about half an hour after they made the final nine, the game was in the money with 6 left. Weston Pring was the first bust in the money, and Jo Teliani followed him to the cage almost an hour later.

Dana Shore & Brian Wells followed over the next 30 minutes, leaving the game three ways between MacNevin, Taghavi, and Limpert, with MacNevin in the lead. MacNevin then sent Limpert home for third place to take a ~3:1 lead into heads up against Taghavi.

Taghavi clawed some of that back to get closer to 2:1 down, but he was never able to fully cut MacNevin’s lead. The final two decided to smooth out the money a bit, securing $8,500 guaranteed for each player, with the rest on the table to play for. A few minutes later, MacNevin took it down in a not-so-classic race between his king-jack and ace-rag for Taghavi.

MacNevin found a jack, and that was all he needed to take down his first trophy. It’s worth noting that last year in this May series, he was heads up against Eric Wasylenko in the $560 NLH, but had to settle for second place in that one. This time around, he was able to take that final step up the podium for his first live win.

Ramaz Haymour Gets First PPT Trophy

Event #12: $560 PLO Big Bounty ($300 + $200 + $60)

  • Entries: 62
  • Prizes: $29,450 ($17,050 prizes, $12,400 bounties)
  • Winner (1st Place): Ramaz Haymour ($6,139)

The side game on Wednesday was more of a main game than a side game, despite starting at 6 PM. The PLO Big Bounty had 30-minute blinds with a 30k starting stack, and, despite the small field, they still played almost 10 hours to decide a winner.

This game played out alongside the $560 NLH, so I wasn’t able to watch this one very closely until the final couple of hours. I picked up the action with four players remaining, and Haymour in the lead. He didn’t surrender that lead until he got heads up against Thomas Taylor, where Taylor briefly took the lead when he rivered fours full.

That left Haymour short, but he came back with two doubles to retake the lead before the final hand. In that final hand, Taylor flopped best, but when Haymour tripped up on the turn with treys, he held for the win.

Haymour’s first recorded cash on Hendon Mob is from 2025, so he’s a relative newcomer to the scene. With 11 final table appearances, including two wins in Calgary, since then, however, he’s clearly one of the rising stars in the local scene. This win marks his 12th live win, but his very first trophy from the Pure Poker Tour.
