12 Days of Poker at Deerfoot Inn & Casino’s Summer Super Stack

After the summer break, big poker tournament action returns to Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary with the 2026 Summer Super Stack (Summer SS). Live satellite action kicks off on August 4th with two games featuring packages to all the multi-flight events in the series.

After that, the series hits the ground running on August 5th with the Seniors (restricted to players 50+) at 11 AM, and the $230 NLH, open to all entries, at 6 PM. That kicks off 12 days of poker action, with 17 events and an estimated combined prize pool of $1 million or more.

In addition to the regular qualifiers to Summer SS events, there’s a special satellite in town for this series – the $600 Road to Playground Super Circuit with packages including a $5k entry to the WSOP Playground Super Circuit Main Event. Other in-series qualifier games include 2 shots at a double-event package on Aug 11 & 12, as well as a Last Chance shot at a Summer SS Main Event ticket on Aug 13.

Hot Poker Action in the Air-Conditioned Chrome Room

It’s no secret to locals that August in southern Alberta can be a bit extreme. While outsiders often talk about the extreme weather of Canada in the winter (and I routinely remind visitors to the January WSOP-C event in Calgary to bring clothes suitable for -40C to +20C), southern Alberta summers can be equally extreme. While visitors shouldn’t expect -40C, +40C isn’t out of the question, and the weather outside can turn from blisteringly hot to hail and thunderstorms faster than a river check-shove with the nuts.

But in the Chrome room at Deerfoot Inn & Casino, poker players will find 12 days of air-conditioned MTT action where the only heat will be coming from the action on the tables. The series features 3 multi-flight events, sure to be the biggest prize pools of the series, as well as a variety of game types to suit most poker tastes.

As always, plenty of NLH games are on the schedule, but it’s not all two-card community-board poker. There are some PLO games, including one with 5 cards, as well as the now-traditional HORSE game, to whet the appetites of players who want some variety to their games.

Big Multi-Flight Action

The three multi-flight games on the traditional Super Stack schedule are typically the biggest games of the series. In the 2025 Summer SS, more than half the total $1.23 million in prizes came from the three multi-flight games. The winner of last Summer’s Main Event, Chase Bonertz, pocketed just shy of $95k.

Layover on the Road to Playground

One of the big side games at the Summer Super Stack gives players a shot at a Super Circuit Ring. At the end of August, Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, minutes from downtown Montreal, is hosting the first-ever Super Circuit event in North America, with a $5k Main event with $10 million guaranteed as the marquee game.

Players coming to the Super Stack in Calgary in early Aug can not only book a seat in the big game, but a couple fo grand extra for travel expenses to Montreal. The $600 satellite game runs August 10th at 4 PM, and 1 in 14 entries will bag a $7,218 package to la belle province.

PKO, PLO, HORSE Round Out Series

While modern poker series tend to be NLH heavy, and the Summer SS is no exception, there are a few games for folks looking for more than two cards. Pot limit Omaha games can be found across the schedule, including a 5-card game and a double board bomb pot game, with bomb pots every hand.

Since it’s introduction in 2024, the HORSE game has become a feature at the Super Stack series as well. The Summer game runs on Aug 10 at 2 PM, giving Alberta players their only chance to play live 7-card stud games.
