Two more events have finished at the 2026 Summer Super Stack at Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, with the PLO Double Board Bomb Pot game on Thursday night, and the Progressive Knockout on Friday night. The fields so far in the series have been quite solid, with 129 entries for Thursday’s PLO game and 133 for the PLO on Friday.
Alongside the one-day events, the first multi-flight game of the series kicked off on Thursday, with two flights now in the books. The opening flight broke 100 entries with 109, while Day 1b blew past 150 entries with 157. That puts the combined prizes going into Saturday’s final flight at $75,810.
That’s certain to nearly double by the time Day 1c completes Saturday evening, with the final numbers for Event #3 expected to be well over 400, and could easily blow past 500.
First Multi-Flight Game Goes Huge

Event #3: $340 Deepstack ($300 + $40)
The first multi-flight game of the series is 2/3rds complete, with the first two flights playing out on Thursday & Friday. Thursday’s opening flight drew 109 entries for prizes of $31,065, and Day 1b on Friday added 157 more entries, for 266 combined, and pushed the combined prizes up to $75,810 after two flights.
Phil Clingo, who was the runner-up in this event this past Spring, bagged the biggest stack so far, with his 600k on Day 1b. Mike Malm’s chip-leading 1a stack comes in second after two flights, with Jarret Gray (who was 3rd in the $230 NLH on Opening Day, and put on a fiddling exhibition in the Chrome room after 1b was complete, while the PKO game was hitting the money), Nan Yu, and Copper Bews rounding out the top 5.
A total of 27 players are already waiting for Day 2 from the first two flights, and there will be 20 or more players adding to that total from Day 1c.

Gavin Lee Wins Battle of the Lees in PLO Double Board

Event #4: $450 PLO Double Board Bomb Pot ($400 + $50)
The PLO Double Board Bomb Pot game was action-heavy, as promised. 68 entries turned up for the four-card chaos, generating a prize pool of almost $26k.
They got to the money about 8 hours after the game began. They then played down from 7 to 3 in less than an hour, before spending almost two more hours battling for the win. It was about an hour before Adam White hit the rail for 3rd place, leaving Nicholas Lee and Gavin Lee (no relation) heads-up for the win.
Both players were dialed into the game, and it took almost another hour to finish it out. At one point, Nick got away from a boat on the bottom with just a flat call on the river, running into quad queens for Gavin, and saving his tournament life at the point.
Gavin came into the final phase with a big lead after running over the final few players at the table, and despite Nick being clearly in the zone, he was unable to find enough traction against Gavin to even the chips. He wasn’t going away, either, though, and eventually, as the game was about to move to the poker room at 3AM, they decided to chop it up based on the stacks at the time.
That gave Gavin the official win for $7,455, after giving Nick an extra $600 or so over the posted second-place prize, for a final prize of $6,500.

Dean Morrone Prevails in PKO

Event #5: $340 PKO ($150 + $150 + $40)
The PKO field was the biggest one-day event of the series so far, capping the Seniors field by 2 entries. The 133 entries created a prize pool of $37,905, with $17,955 of that in the payouts pool, and just shy of $20k in the bounties.
The game ran nearly 12 hours, with the final hand playing out in the poker room at about 5:45 AM. They made it into the money after about 8 hours of play, then battled in the money for more than 3 hours to decide the winner.
As expected in a PKO, there was a fair amount of action, but also a lot of coolers to start off the final table. Ross Wilson was the first out from the final ten when Jody Fayant cracked his aces with a flopped set of queens. Wilson was drawing to flush outs, and hit the river, but Fayant had already boated up on the turn.
The coolers then turned on Fayant, and he was the next one out after losing with ace-king and pocket kings in short order to hit the rail in 9th place.
About an hour after the final table was set, they were down to four remaining. Deam Morrone was the leader of the final four after Mike Malm hit the rail for 5th place, and he ran that lead down to the win.
Next out was Dale Campbell, just before 5 AM. Campbell is a regular in series up in Edmonton, but he rarely makes it down to Calgary for games as mobility is an issue for him. After a decent run here in the PKO, he might be more inclined to make the effort to come south.
That left Morrone with a big lead over Raymond Trieu and Brandon Leys three ways. Leys survived for about 20 minutes after the move to poker at 5 AM, but ended his day in 3rd after shoving blind with just 5 bigs. Morrone called it off with what he called “a really bad hand,” but his jack-six was still ahead of the nine-five for Leys. A jack on the flop was all Morrone needed to get the game heads up against Trieu.
The stacks were quite lopsided, and though Trieu was able to double once when his six-four of spades found a straight against a suited king for Morrone, that was all he could manage. The game ended shortly after when Morrone’s king-eight offsuit got there against ace-deuce off for Trieu.
Morrone got more than $9k between bounties and payouts, while Trieu pocketed more than $5,500 in total.
