Todd Brunson Looks to Continue Family Legacy With Deep Run in 2026 WSOP Main Event

Todd Brunson 2026 WSOP

Day 6 of the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event is in the books. Of the 9,208-strong field, only 62 players remained in contention for the bracelet and $10,000,000 top prize. Sitting close to the top of the counts was Hall of Famer Todd Brunson, looking to continue his father’s legacy with a deep run in poker’s most prestigious tournament.

Todd Brunson is the son of the late Doyle Brunson, an absolute legend in the poker world who won back to back Main Events in 1976 and 1977. Todd has already followed in his father’s footsteps, making serious waves in both cash games and tournaments, with over $5 million in live tournament winnings, according to The Hendon Mob, including a WSOP bracelet that he picked up by winning an Omaha Hi-Lo event back in 2005.

After bagging 17,000,000 at the end of Day 6, good for ninth place in the counts and only a few million shy of the top spots, Todd Brunson stands at the gates of a final table run. If he did win, he would be part of the only father-son duo to ever win the WSOP Main Event.

Ensan Looking for Second Main Event Title as Gaston Takes Lead

Standing ahead of Brunson are eight players who are also looking to make their mark. Tyler Gaston of the USA bagged the biggest stack with 21,000,000, looking to top up his $781,918 in winnings with a potential six figure score.

Blake Barousse sits in second with 19,375,000, and has a touch over $900,000 in winnings to his name. Day 5 chip leader Zhao Liu grew his stack and held his own at the top, finishing third in the counts with 19,047,000.

One previous Main Event champion was still in the running at the end of Day 6. Hossein Ensan sits in fifth place with 17,775,000, and is looking to join an elite club of double champions after winning his first Main Event relatively recently in 2019.

One-time bracelet winner Malcolm Trayner bagged eighth in chips for 17,200,000, moving up one spot from the ninth position that he bagged in at the end of Day 5.

Deeb Running Deep

Further down the counts sat Shaun Deeb in 26th place with 8,725,000 chips. The nine-time bracelet winner has been one to watch as he has progressed through the tournament, and has a real chance at taking it all the way given his stack and experience. Deeb is also the reigning Player of the Year and looking to go two-in-a-row as he adds more points with his deep run in the Main Event.

Other notable players who found the bag at the end of Day 6 included Ralph Perry (17th – 13,775,000), Brock Wilson (12,650,000), Greg Mueller (24th – 10,000,000), Patrick Leonard (35th – 6,100,000), and Dylan Smith (45th – 4,350,000). Will Givens, who turned up late for the tournament after saying he was out taking a walk and getting a healthy breakfast, bagged for 10,175,000. Congya Zhang is the last lady standing with 1,350,000.

Sean Winter, Japanese vlogger Masato Yokosawa, Terrance Reid, Zdenek Zizka, and Daniel Hachem were also among those to fall on Day 6. Also among the bustouts was WSOP Europe bracelet winner and friend of Poker.pro Espen Sandvik, who ran his pair into a higher pair, with both players hitting a set. Sandvik’s respectable run came to an end in 117th place.

One bustout drew controversy as a full table complied in a 15-minute tank that allowed Loren Klein to move up the pay ladder.
