A Perfect Start for England in Europe

One round will not decide who lifts the trophy, but England’s representatives have all given themselves a good platform. Their next challenge is carrying that form into the weekend, when domestic opponents will have little interest in their European success.
Tottenham Need a Response

Tottenham’s start has put pressure on a team that expected much more after an expensive summer. They have taken just one point, and today’s home match against Everton already feels important for the mood around the club. Everton arrive with five points and no defeats from their opening three games.
That makes this an awkward fixture for Spurs. They need to give their supporters something to get behind, but forcing the issue could leave opportunities for the visitors. The longer the wait for a goal continues, the harder it becomes to play with confidence.
This is where Tottenham need to show some character. If chances go begging or Everton score first, the response will matter. Spurs have to keep asking questions instead of allowing frustration to take over.
A win would give them some breathing room. Another match without a goal would make the conversation around their season considerably more uncomfortable.
There is plenty at stake before Sunday’s derby even begins. Then attention turns to Old Trafford, where United have the chance to challenge City’s strong start and give their supporters a result worth talking about.
