2026 Pure Poker Tour Series #3 – Event #9: $560 PLO Big Bounty

It was a very swingy heads-up game, with both Ali Khani & Neil Smith holding the chip lead multiple times, with chances to win it or bust. Khani started the final phase with the lead, but it switched back and forth at least three times through the 3-level heads-up.

In the end, all Khani needed was a king. Just before the final hand, Khani doubled back to the lead when he rivered a straight to cap the set of kings for Smith. Shortly after, they got all the money in on a flop of 7♣6♦2♠ with Khani on backdoor spades and overs with A♣K♠J♠9♦, while Smith was open-ended with Q♠J♥9♥8♣. Khani spiked a king on the turn, and the 8♠ river wasn’t enough for Smith to jump ahead.

This was Khani’s sixth live win, and his second PPT trophy, with his first coming at the 2026 PPT 1 in the $1,100 PLO Main Event. Khani added 10 bounties ($2k) to his $8,805, while Smith added 9 bounties ($1,800) to his $6,065.

Neil Smith is back in the lead with about 2.5 million to 900k for Ali Khani. I arrived at the table with action on the turn and the board showing 7♠5♦10♦4♠.

Smith potted to 480k, and Khani called to the 5♥ river. Smith checked, then called Khani’s bet of 410k. Khani mucked, while Smith showed A♦A♥Q♠2♣ for the win.

Neil Smith called, then called again when Ali Khani raised it to 90k. Khani bet 110k on the Q♦3♦5♥ flop before Smith raised it to 300k.

Khani called, then potted the J♦ turn for 810k. Smith tank-folded to give Khani about 2 million to 1.6 million for Smith.

Blinds are now 15 minutes for the remainder of heads up.

As I’ve been updating the Player of the Series standings, I’ve been incorrectly reporting that Cam Stewart won the May PoS, along with the Main Event. That was incorrect – Stewart won the Main and Pos in the first series of the year here at Pure Casino Edmonton, but it was actually Ross Wilson who took PoS honours in the May series. That means Wilson is in a strong position to go back-to-back, while Stewart is looking to go 2 for 3 as well, but with a gap in the middle.

Both players slow played until the river, after Mujcin flopped a queens full of fours as Wilson flopped quad fours. The river is where things went crazy, as both players potted & repotted to get it all in.

Wilson is now on the chip lead with close to 800k, and has a great shot at getting a huge jump in the PoS race.

The PLO Big Bounty is in the money now, with 12 players left. It looks like Neil Smith is the chip leader right now with about 600k in play, while Ross Wilson is also playing more than half a million for what looks like second place. I don’t have a full list of chips, but see below for the 12 cashing players and how they are seated right now. Wilson is one of the players in the Player of the Series race, though he’s trailing Denis Mujcin, who is also still active here tonight. A win tonight for Mujcin would put him in the lead, while a win for Wilson would jump him to second or third, depending on how Mujcin finishes.

The side game is now underway with 24 players in their seats early in Level 1. Entries are open for about 4 hours and 45 minutes, with the desk closing at 6:45 PM tonight.

Event #9: $560 PLO Big Bounty ($300 + $200 + $60)

The side game on Tuesday is the PLO Big Bounty. Action gets going at 2 PM, with players sitting down with 30k in chips to start.

Levels are 30 minutes long until heads-up, when they drop to 20 minutes. Entries are open for 8 levels of poker, and, including breaks, that will put the final chance to enter at about 6:45 when they return from the dinner break following Level 8. After that, they’ll play to a winner sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Im May, Calgary’s Jordan Banfield (who streams on Twitch), took down this one after a three-way chop at the end. The game drew 70 entries for combined prizes of $33,250 ($19,250 prizes, $14,000 bounties).
