Heads up was pretty short in the Seniors game, with Glenn Slater stacking huge against Bill Thomson. Thomson had around 500k to start heads-up, with Slater on the other 2.7 million.

In the final hand, Bill Thomson got his money in with ace-king, and was in good shape against the suited jack-eight for Slater. Slater flopped a jack to take the lead, and Thomson couldn’t find any more help.

I missed the action while writing the previous hand, but Mark Milner had been competing with Stephen O’Bertos for short stack recently, and his night ended in 5th place.

Bill Thomson opened the middle to 75k, and Glenn Slater called from the button, as did Michelle M from the big blind. It checked to Slater on the 3♦6♥8♦ flop, and he fired 100k.

Michelle called, but Thomson mucked to take them heads up to the 7♠ turn. Michelle shoved, and after some time the tank and announcing he had pocket nines, he finally muttered “I have to call.”

His nines were good, with both players drawing to the straight, but Michelle also drawing to diamonds. The [invalid notations]2c[/pcn river was as bricky as they come, and Slater’s nines took the pot and sent Michelle to the rail for 6th place.

Michelle M shoved 300k second to act, and Stephen O’Bertos reshoved a bit more from her left. The rest of the table folded, and Michelle’s nines were racing against the ace-queen of O’Bertos.

Michelle kept getting better on the 7♥8♠3♦10♣K♥ board, and the nines ultimately held for a double, leaving O’Bertos short with less than 100k. Just before the hand, Michelle joked to me, “Can you write that even though my stack is dropping, I am still playing the best?” Mark Milner agreed from her right.

O’Bertos doubled in the next hand to stay in the game, but he’s still one of the shorter stacks at the table.

There were a couple of quick busts while I was out of the room recently, and the Seniors field is down to 6. Gary James finished in 8th place, with Willie Hernandez in 7th tonight.

Hernandez bet 20k on the 7♥5♦5♥ flop, but Slater wasn’t having it, making it 75k to go. McNeil called, but Hernandez decided better of it, and mucked.

Both remaining players checked the J♣ turn, and McNeil mucked when Slater put in 75k on the J♠ river.

Colim McNeil limped the small blind, and Gary James called from the big. McNeil fired 25k on the A♣3♦10♥ flop, and James called to the 8♠ turn.

McNeil sized up to 35k, and James made the call. McNeil dropped back to 25k on the Q♦ river, and James called a final time, but mucked, showing a three, when McNeil rolled over A♠4♣.

I missed the action while I was out of the room, but the Seniors game is down to 8 after Greg Simpson ended his day in 9th place tonight.

The Seniors are on the break following Level 21, and I had a chance to get a full chip count while they were away. Colin McNeil is still the leader, with more than 800k, while Michelle M is second with a bit less than 500k.

Only Simpson called to the [invalid notations]. Werezak stared at the board for a few seconds before saying, “I have a small pair. You counterfeited me.” He mucked his hand, so we don’t know what pair he had.

The field is down to 11 after Jody Fayant lost his short stack. I missed the action, but he was in with a spade draw that bricked at the end, with Michelle M sending him to the rail with a jack.

Level 12 has just begun, with 36 players remaining. They’ll take a 45-minute dinner break at the end of this level, and I’ll have a look around for some big stacks while they are away from the tables.
