2026 Summer Super Stack – Event #8: $400 5-Card PLO

They chopped the money down the middle once they got heads up, but Stephen MacPherson had the big stack, so he gets the official win, while Brenton Pilling takes second tonight. They both earned $8,013 in the deal.

They are heads up in the 5-Card now after Vince Chahley hit the rail for third. He was short-stacked, and his money was in on the flop. Stephen MacPherson and Brenton Pilling checked down the rest of the board, and MacPherson flopped a set of nines, then boated up when the board paired to send Chahley to the rail for 3rd place.

Pilling still has the lead by about 1.5:1.

Ellen Brezina shoved all-in blind with the short stack at the table. Brenton Pilling and Vince Chahley both called and checked it down through the board. Chahley hit two pair with queen-eight to cap Brezina’s fours & threes.

Brenton Pilling is the leader of the final five. I’m still not watching the action here, as the 1Day is heads-up right now, but Pilling looks to have well over a million, with Vince Chahley looking like he’s in second. This is Chahley’s second final table of the day, as he was second in the multi-day Deepstack earlier today, and then max-late reg’d this one after they cut a deal in Event #3.

Jody Fayant was the bubble to the final table in the 5-Card tonight, finishing 9th. I’ll grab photos and names for the final table shortly, but this game won’t likely get much action coverage until the 1Day Deepstack ends.

Scott Farquhar was the first player out in the money, taking 10th place for $1,002. I erroneously stated that this game would have a 9-handed final table, but in fact, it will be 8-handed because of the 5 cards; playing nine-handed would mean the whole deck was dealt out or burned.

The 5-Card PLO game is in the money after a short bubble. This is an 8-handed game, so they still have one more elimination before the final table of 9.

The 5-Card PLO is down to 13 left, with about 10 minutes to play in Level 13. That puts them 3 off the money, with the 1Day Deepstack now playing on the bubble across the room. It looks like most of the money play for both games will be going on at the same time, so I may not get much action covered in this one.

The 5-Card game is now 5 off the money with 15 players left alive. Level 13 is about to start, with hand-for-hand play set when they hit 11 players after 4 more eliminations.

The prizes are in for the 5-Card PLO, and it was quite a bit bigger than expected. There were 99 entries by the time the desk closed, putting the prizes at $33,388.

10 players will get a piece of those prizes later tonight, and 24 players are still battling for the prizes.

It looks like 5-Card PLO is popular at the Super Stack. There are still about 20 minutes left in reg, and the field is at 93 entries. That’s a good bit better than the pre-game estimate, and nearly 30 entries bigger than the PLO Double Board Bomb Pot last week.

It’s a stronger-than-expected turnout for the 5-Card game, with 68 entries on the board, and about 2 hours left to enter. 10 minutes remain in Level 6, with entries set to close at 8:40 PM.

The 5-Card game is up to 23 entries, with just under 20 minutes to play in Level 2. The prizes are closing in on $8k, and I’m expecting at least twice as many entries before the desk shuts down around 8:40 PM.

The first 5-Card PLO game for the Super Stack series has just kicked off, with 7 players in their seats to start the game. I’m not expecting a huge field for this one, as it will tend to appeal mostly to PLO specialists, but I expect at least 60 entries by the end.

Event #8: $400 5-Card PLO ($355 + $45)

The second side game on Sunday is served with 5 cards. The 5-Card PLO is a new format for Super Stack games, but it should be of interest to all the PLO fans in the field.

The action gets going at 4 PM Saturday afternoon, and players start with 25k in chips. Levels last 25 minutes all day long, and players have 10 levels to get into the game. That should put the final chance to enter at about 8:40 PM. After that, it’s a race to the finish.

This game will be my third priority on Sunday, after Day 2 of Event #3, and the 1Day Deepstack game, so I’m not sure how much attention this game will get outside of some numbers updates. As this is a new format, there is nothing to comare to previous series.
