The final flight to the money in Event #3 is running on Saturday, with the action kicking off at 1 PM. Day 1b is a redo of Day 1a, though it’s expected that the field will be significantly bigger.
Players sit down with 25k chips, and blinds are 40 minutes for the entirety of Day 1 play. There are nine levels of late entry, with the entry desk closing at about 8 PM, after the dinner break following Level 9. After that, they play as long as it takes to make it to 12.5% of the starting field.
Day 1a played for a bit more than 13 levels, with the bags coming out relatively early in Level 14. When all seven 1a bags were collected, Darcy Stone was well ahead of the rest of the field, bagging 529k. That was more than 300k ahead of second-place, Jared Zierler with 217k.
Chip Counts from Day 1a
| Player | Chips |
|---|---|
| Darcy Stone | 529,000 |
| Jared Zierler | 217,000 |
| Toller Conrad | 193,500 |
| Jody Fayant | 192,000 |
| Jan Rofuli | 111,500 |
| Brad Bishop | 88,000 |
| Johnny Dalphond | 45,000 |
Defending champ Brad Bishop was running hot through most of the night, but lost a flip late in the day. He still managed to bag a stack to try and defend his title on Sunday, but with just 88k in his 1a bag, he may opt to fire a Day 1b bullet or two to try for a bigger stack.
