Tony Comely Wins PLO Deepstack Hyper after Chop
Level: 28 (50000/100000/100000) Entries: 1/80 Prizes: $20,520 Tony Comely, winner of E4 Ron Lauzon, runner up in E4 Tony Pioquinto, 3rd place in E4 Event #4 went from three-handed to a winner pretty quickly. Tony Pioquinto busted in 3rd place while I was finishing up the end-of-day posts for Event #3 Day 1a, setting up heads-up play between Tony Comely and Ron Lauzon. They were pretty even in chips to start the heads up and that didn’t really change.
Heads up took less than a level as the blinds were getting pretty big. Both players agreed to an even-money chop and they played it out for the trophy and bragging rights. There were less than 40 big blinds on the table in the final level, and when the money went in on a flop of 9♣5♦3♠ after limpy preflop action, both players hit the nine.
Comely also hit the five with K♠J♣9♥5♥ against Lauzon’s 9♦6♦4♠2♦ for top pair and a solid wrap up. Comely smashed the 5♣ turn for a boat, leaving Lauzon’s rivered straight with the 6♥ dead.
When the chips were counted out, Comely had just a bit more, and the game was done. Both players pocketed $5,848 for the game, but only Comely got the Pure Poker Tour trophy and swag.

Hui Zhu Out in 4th Place for $2,050
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 3/80 Prizes: $20,520 There are three players left in the PLO game now, Ron Lauzon, Tony Comely, and Tony Pioquinto. It looks like they are all pretty close in chips, but Lauzon looks to be a bit bigger than the other two.
I’m still not able to watch this one very closely as I’m still trying to catch the bubble hand in what has become the neverending bubble in Event #3.
-
Stefan Maloney Out in 5th Place for $1,355
Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 4/80 Prizes: $20,520 They are down to four remaining with Stefan Maloney taking 5th place tonight. I haven’t been able to catch any of the action on he final table yet tonight as I’ve been playing catch up.
The remaining four players are on a short break with action resuming at 1 AM.
-
Jordan Pennock Out in 6th Place for $985
Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 5/80 Prizes: $20,320 They are down to 5 left now after Jordan Pennock hit the rail in 6th, though I missed the action.
-
Nu Teliani Out in 7th Place for $760
Level: 23 (15000/30000/30000) Entries: 6/80 Prizes: $20,520 Nu Teliani was the 7th-place finisher tonight in the PLO Hyper. She lost her chips to Stefan Maloney when he hit a ten high straight on her. She’d been on the short stack since the start of the final table, and managed to ladder up one spot at least.
-
Ye Ping Shan Out in 8th Place for $595

Three from Cash
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 11/80 Prizes: $20,520 The side game is down to 11 players left now, putting them 3 off the 8 paid spots. The average stack is less than 20 big blinds right now, and with the blinds increasing so quickly, the average stack is only likely to decrease. Tony Comely, Tom T, Nu Teliani, Stefan Maloney, and Colten Yamagishi are among the players remaining, and last time I wandered by, it looked like Yamagishi was on one of the bigger stacks in the game.
-
Seven Off the Money

Event #3 is still playing down to 10 bags, with 16 left in that one, but I’ll keep an eye on this game and try to get pics when they hit the money, which looks like it might happen before Event #3 bags for the night.

However, the prizes are a bit less than I previously reported, as I forgot to take out the 5% AGLC charity fee. That means 8 players will be competing for a share of $20,520, with the winner set to pocket $6,975.

Deepstack Hyper Four-Card Action on the Side
2025 Pure Poker Tour Series #3 – Event #4: $300 PLO Deepstack Hyper
Date: July 18, 6 PM Blinds: 15 Minutes Starting Stack: 50k Late Entry: 11 Levels (~9:15 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event The side game on Friday evening is the PLO Deepstack Hyper, an interesting format that combines a lot of chips with lightning-fast levels for a unique dynamic. Players get 50k to start, but levels will blaze by at 15 minutes each.
Players will have about 3 and a quarter hours to get into the game, with the entry desk closing at the start of Level 12, which should be around 9:15 PM. After that, they’ll play down to a winner before the games end today.
I don’t expect this to be a particularly late one, as the hyper turbo structure will likely mean that even the endgame plays pretty quickly tonight. I’ll be focusing on Day 1a of Event #3 for most of the early part of Friday, but once that game bags for the night, I’ll finish my day off closing this one out.
