    Entries:1/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:8:00

The Deepstack game ended in a bit of a heads-up cooler. Todd Oakley shoved his button, and Phillip Clingo called off his stack from the big blind. It was a classic race between sixes for Oakley and ace-queen for Clingo, but the race got lopsided after Oakley flopped a set on 74622.

Clingo earned $17k from the earlier deal, while Oakley got the extra juice of $20,725 for the win.

    Ramaz Haymour

Todd Oakley jammed the button with the big stack, and Rama Haymour called off his stack from the small blind. Phillip Clingo looked a bit bemused and folded pocket nines face up.

Haymour was on king-jack off against ace-seven off for Oakley. Haymour called for a king, but the poker gods instead delivered sevens full to Oakley on 82877.

    Level:27 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:3/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:7:00 PM
    Adam Balog

The game is three ways now after Adam Balog hit the rail for fourth place. He flopped a heart draw against two pair for Ramaz Haymour, and the money went in. Blaog bricked the draw and, despite hitting a queen on the river, wasn’t able to jump ahead.

All remaining players are guaranteed five-figure payouts now, with the next elimination getting $11,274.

  • Regan Duong Out in 5th Place for $6,676

    Level:27 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:4/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:6:45 PM
    Regan Duong

I missed the final action while getting some dinner, but Regan Duong was left on fumes after a big confrontation with Phillip Clingo, and he lost the rest of his stack shortly after.

  • Duong on Fumes

    Level:27 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:5/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:6:40 PM

Phillip Clingo has chipped up significantly. I missed the early action in the hand, but Clingo fired 575k into an already huge pot on the river of a paired board, and Regan Duong made the call. Clingo showed seven-four for trip fours, and Duong mucked to leave him less than 200k. He picked up blinds and antes in the next hand with a walk in the big blind, but he’s still very short.

  • Brian Fleming Out in 6th Place for $5,291

    Level:27 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:5/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:6:25 PM
    Brian Fleming

I missed the action while I was out of the room, but Brian Fleming had the shortest stack when I counted at the break, and he ended his day shortly after they returned, taking $5,291 for 6th place.

  • Oakley Fires into Chip Leader

    Level:26 (30000/60000/60000)
    Entries:6/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:6:10 PM

In the final hand before the break, Todd Oakley went huge against the chip leader, Ramaz Haymour. Oakley opened the pt from the button, making it 120k to go. Ramaz Haymour defended his big blind with a three-bet to 280k and Oakley called.

They both checked the 62J flop, and Haymour led for 150k on the 7 turn.Oakleyt called, then, after a check from Haymour on the K river, he fired huge for 725k, essentially a pot bet.

Haymour hit the tank for several minutes, thinking well into the break before he finally mucked his hand. He said while he was thinking that he thought he had Oakley all the way to the river, but Oakley was confident he was good the whole way. Neither player showed their hand, so it’s an open question which hand was best, but Oakley took the chips.

    Entries:6/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:5:55 PM

Regan Duong opened under the gun to 120k, and Phillip Clingo called from the big blind. Clingo check-called for 80k on the 2AJ flop, then switched it up with a lead of 210k on the 10 turn. Duong thought for a few seconds before sending his hand to the muck.

  • Karim Chatur Out in 7th Place for $4,031

    Karim Chatur

Karim Chatur shoved, and Regan Duong called it off with more. It was a fair fight between [invalid notations]. Chatur rivered a jack on 10969J, but it was the wrong colour as it gave Duong the heart flush for the win.

  • Colby MacDonald Out in 8th Place for $2,897

    Level:26 (30000/60000/60000)
    Entries:8/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:5:40 PM
    Colby MacDonald

I missed the action while I was updating the side game, but the Deepstack field is down to 7 after Colby MacDonald, who was on the Team final table last night with his father, hit the rail for 8th place. Just over 20 minutes remain in Level 26, and I’ll grab another round of counts at the break.

  • Kyle James Out in 9th Place for $2,141

    Level:26 (30000/60000/60000)
    Entries:8/442
    Prizes:$125,970

    Kyle James

I missed the action while I was writing up the previous hand, but Event #3 is now down to 8 after Kyle James ended his day in 9th place.

  • Duong Three-Bets the Leader

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:9/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:5:25 PM

In the final hand of Level 25, Ramaz Hayour raised under the gun to 110k before Regan Duong repopped it from the cutoff to 260k. After some time in the tank, Haymour made the call to see 65K on the flop.

Haymour checked, then folded when Duong fired 175k. Haymour is the chip leader, and he started the hand with more than 3 million. He picked up a chunk of those chips from Matthew Robertson when he sent Robertson out in 10th place recently. Duong is playing about 1.2 million now. There is a break coming at the end of Level 26 in about 30 minutes, and I’ll do another full round of counts then.

  • Matthew Roberts Out in 10th Place for $1,890

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:9/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:5:10 PM
    Matthew Robertson

The turn was just being dealt when I got to the table, with the board reading 5323, and Ramaz Haymour bet enough to force Matthew Robertson all in. After a few seconds of thought, Robertson put in the call. Both players had overpairs to the board, but Robertson’s jacks were behind the red aces for Haymour. 8 on the river didn’t change anything, and Robertson was out in 10th place.

  • Final Table Faces

    Local Time:4:20 PM

The final table is now being set after Aaron Froese busted for 11th place. I missed the action, but I did see Kyle James stacking up his chips as he headed to the payout desk.

Stay tuned for the final table faces shortly.

  • Balog Repops the Repop

    Level:24 (20000/40000/40000)
    Entries:11/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:4:15 PM

While no cards were exposed, there was still a lot of action in a recent hand on Table 30. Adam Balog opened under the gun to 85k, and Colby MacDonald called from the cutoff, before big blind & big stack Regan Duong came over the top to 280k.

Balog hit the tank for about 30 seconds before announcing “All in” as a four-bet. MacDonald and Duong both got out of the way pretty quickly.

  • Robertson Has Heart

    Level:24 (20000/40000/40000)
    Entries:11/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:4:05 PM

Matthew Robertson opened under the gun to 80k, and it folded to Aaron Froese in the big blind, who slid out the call. They both checked the 10K2 flop, and Froese fired 55k on the 4 turn that brought hearts to the board.

Robertson called to the 9 river, then fired 200k after a check from Froese. Froses tanked for about 30 seconds before he tossed in the one-chip call, counting out the rest of the call after Robertson showed KQ and Froese mucked.

  • Al Ghunaim Leads Day 2 by a Mile

    Date:Day 2: Apr 12, 12 Noon
    Blinds:30 Minutes (40 Minutes at 18 players)
    Entries:44/442
    Prizes (1st Place):$125,970 ($27,075)
    Day 2 Starts:4:01 Remaining in Level 17

Day 2 of the first multi-flight game of the series is set to run. A total of 442 entries were recorded over the three starting flights, with 44 players surviving through the three.

Hasanain Al Ghunaim, pictured from Day 3 of the 2024 Jan WSOP-C Main Event

Hasanain Al Ghunaim doesn’t come out that often for these events, but when he does, he always seems to bag a big stack. Today was no exception, with his 1c stack the clear leader for all three flights. He bagged 733k, almost 200k more than 1b leader Regan Duong. Kristopher Di Leone (1a leader), Brian Fleiming (1c), and Essam Saadeddine (1b) round out the top five stacks for Day 2.

The Day 2 action gets going at noon on Sunday, and play will start with 4:01 remaining in Level 17, which is where Day 1c ended (both 1a & 1b went well into Level 18 before bagging), with blinds for the first four minutes of the day at 4k/8k/8k. Blinds start out at 30 minutes, but will jump to 40 minutes when the Day 2 field hits 18 players. Full prizes for Day 2 are under the Payouts tab, with the top ten spots below. Note that there was an adjustment to first place after my last prize pool post – the rest of the prize pool stayed the same, but the payout for 1st place jumped to over $27k.

Josh Myers, Matthew Robertson, and Alexandre Fortin round out the top five from 1c. Stay tuned for a Day 2 post with the full Day 2 field and seat assignments coming shortly.

  • Day 1c is Over

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:22/219 (44/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:12:20 AM

There are 4 minutes left in Level 17, and the bags are now out with 22 players remaining. Stay tuned for a look at the final stacks from 1c coming shortly, with a Day 2 preview including full seat assignments coming after that.

  • Bubble Time; Prize Pool Adjustment Coming

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:23/219 (45/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:12:05 AM

The clock is paused with 10 minutes remaining in Level 17, with the field down to 23. That puts them on the hard bubble to the end of the night. I’ll be adjusting the prizes slightly shortly, as there was an error in the printed prizes. The good news is that the only change is that a few of the top spots are getting a bit more money than previously advertised.

  • $26k for the Win

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:25/219 (47/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:11:45 PM

Level 17 is about to begin with the 1c field just 3 eliminations away from the bags. That should mean the bubble play starts in Level 17, and the bags should come out earlier than the previous flights.

The prizes for Day 2 have now been released, with the winner expected to pocket more than $26k on Sunday evening. See the Payouts tab for a full look at all the Day 2 prizes, with the top ten spots below.

  • 5 Off the Bags

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:27/219 (49/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:11:25 PM

The Day 1c field just broke down to the final three tables with 27 players left. That puts them 5 eliminations off the bags with about 5 minutes to play in Level 16. There’s a break following this level, and unless things slow considerably, it looks like the bubble play should start sometime in Level 17.

  • 11 Off the Bags

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:33/219 (55/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:10:50 PM

1c is moving quickly so far tonight, with the field now down to 33, 11 off the bags. Right now, it looks like Pete Fylyma and Nicholas Lee are leading with about 350k each. Fylyma told me that he had 500k recently, but sent a double to Lee to beef up his stack. Across the room, Tyler Hurman is playing around 300k after his traditional max-late entry for this one.

  • 14 Off the Bags

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:36/219 (58/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:10:30 PM

Day 1c is down to 38 players left now, with Level 15 just underway. They still need to lose 14 players before the bags come out with 22 remaining, so there’s still some poker to play tonight.

They’ve just broken down to the final four tables, with one more table break expected before the end of the night. Its looking like this flight could end before Level 18, but as it’s the last flight, I expect players to be a bit more cautious with their chips since they can’t rebuy into this one again.

  • 219 Entries Confirmed for 1c

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:63/219 (85/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:9:20 PM

All the money has been counted, and 219 is the confirmed field for Day 1c. That puts the three-day total up to 442 entries for $125,970 in total prizes.

22 will move forward from today’s flight, adding to the 22 already waiting for Day 2 from the first two flights, for a Day 2 total of 44. It’s possible those numbers will change slightly if there is a multiple knockout of the final hand of tonight’s flight, but there should be 44 players coming back for Sunday’s Day 2.

Day 2 prizes should be out shortly, and I’ll get them up as soon as I see them.

  • 219 Unofficial Entries for 1c

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:72/219 (94/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:9:00 PM

Entries are now closed for Event #3, and it was a good one. The final tally for Day 1c was 219 entries, though that number is still yet to be confirmed. If it holds, it will mean a final total of 442 for prizes of almost $126k. There should be 22 bags at the end of the night, which should mean 44 players returning on Day 2 for a piece of those prizes.

  • 10 Minutes to Enter Event #3

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:83/215 (105/438 combined)
    Prizes:$61,275 (Combined: $124,830)
    Local Time:8:35 PM

The final break of entries is now on, with about 10 minutes left until entries are closed for good on Event #3. The field is at 215 for 1c, and 438 in total, for combined prizes of $124,830. One more entry will push it over $125k.

  • More than 200 1c Entries

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:130/201 (152/424 combined)
    Prizes:$57,285 (Combined: $120,840)
    Local Time:7:50 PM

The 1c field is now over 200 entries, for combined prizes of more than $120k. There is just under an hour left to enter this final flight, so the numbers may still jump up to 210 or more, for a combined total in the 430 range.

  • Two More Levels of Entry for Event #3

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:126/197 (148/420 combined)
    Prizes:$56,145 (Combined: $119,700)
    Local Time:7:30 PM

Level 10 has just begun, which means there are now two levels of poker, plus a break, before entries close. With 197 entries on the board for 1c already, a 200+ field for today’s flight looks like a lock

  • Final Three Levels of Entry

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:112/183 (134/406 combined)
    Prizes:$52,155 (Combined: $115,710)
    Local Time:7:05

Day 1c is back from the dinner break, and the players are into the final three levels with entries still open. The reg-desk will close for Event #3 at about 8:45 tonight, when the players sit down for Level 12.

The combined prizes are now over $115k, and a 1c field of 200 or more isn’t out of the question today. If they hit 200, that would put the prizes at more than $120k.

  • Nearly $114k in Prizes at the Dinner Break

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:119/176 (141/399 combined)
    Prizes:$50,160 (Combined: $113,715)
    Local Time:6:20 PM

The 1c players are on their dinner break now with the conclusion of Level 8, and the combined field is now 1 entry shy of 400, putting the prizes just shy of $114k. They’ll be back in action for the final three levels of entry in about 40 minutes, and it seems like a sure bet that the final prizes will be more than $115k.

  • Final Level Before Dinner

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:109/166 (131/389 combined)
    Prizes:$47,310 (Combined: $110,865)
    Local Time:5:45 PM

Level 8 has just begun, and the 1c players will be off for the dinner break at the end of this level. The 1c field is now at 166 entries, for a combined total of 389 and more than $110k in prizes. The combined field is now just 11 away from 400, and it seems like a good bet they’ll get at least that many new entries over the next 3 hours. If they do hit that number, it would be a prize pool of $114k, and to cap $115k will take 181 entries today, just 15 more than are currently in the game.

  • Nearing $110k in Prizes

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:109/157 (131/380 combined)
    Prizes:$44,745 (Combined: $108,300)
    Local Time:5:15 PM

Level 7 is about to begin, and the 1c field is nearing 160 entries. That puts the three-day total for entries at 380 for $108,300 in total prizes. Almost $45k of that is coming from the 1c entries alone right now, but it’s not impossible that share will be $50k or more by the end of entries in about 3.5 hours.

  • Prizes Over $100k

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:110/138 (132/361 combined)
    Prizes:$39,330 (Combined: $102,885)
    Local Time:4:40 PM

About 5 minutes remain in Level 5, and the prizes are now over $100k. Today’s field is up to 138 entries, the biggest flight so far, and with four hours left to enter, it’s sure to get even bigger.

The combined field is now at 361 for total prizes of $102,885, and among the players trying to bag a stack here in the final flght are Erich Leidums, Rob Lothian, Rob Bridger, Alexandre Fortin (who was 3rd in the PKO last night), Curtis Singleton, and Kyle Dery.

  • More than $96k in Prizes

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:100/116 (122/339 combined)
    Prizes:$33,060 (Combined: $96,615)
    Local Time:3:55 PM

The 1c players are about 5 minutes away from the first break of the day, with today’s field now at 116 entries. That puts the combined total to 339, for $96,615 in total prizes so far. It looks like the prizes will be just below $100k when they go for the break, but it should easily crack that number before the dinner break following Level 8.

  • 100 Entries in Level 3

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:100/100 (122/323 combined)
    Prizes:$28,500 (Combined: $92,055)
    Local Time:3:25 PM

With 5 minutes still to play in Level 3, the 1c field just hit 100 entries. That puts the three-day total at 323, for $92,055 in combined prizes so far. There are still more than 5 hours left to enter the final flight, and the field only needs another 28 entries to hit $100k. Given the current pace, that could easily happen before the first break following Level 4, but either way, it looks certain to happen before the end of Level 5.

  • Nearing $90k in Combined Prizes

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:86/86 (108/309 combined)
    Prizes:$24,510 (Combined: $88,065)
    Local Time:3:00 PM

Level 3 is just beginning, and the combined field is over 300 entries now, for combined prizes of just over $88k. They have two more levels to play until the first break of the day, and there are still almost 6 hours left to enter today’s final flight. The numbers are still looking good for prizes of well over $100k once entries close later tonight.

  • $80k In Prizes

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:59/59 (81/282 combined)
    Prizes:$16,815 (Combined: $80,370)
    Local Time:2:25 PM

Level 1 is nearly complete, and the three-day prizes are now over $80k and climbing. Day 1c already has nearly 60 entries in the opening level of play, so it’s looking very good for final prizes of well over $100k.

Among the players I spotted on my first look at the room are Garry Chan, Juilius Roque, Scott Calvank, and Todd The Rock.

  • Final Flight to Day 2 Runs Saturday

    Date:Day 1c: Apr 11, 2 PM
Blinds:30 Minutes (40 Minutes on Day 2 at 18 players)
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:11 Levels (~8:45 PM)
Day 1 Ends:10% of the field, All Day 2 players are in the money
    Entries (1a/b):22/223
    Prizes (1a/b):$63,555

The final flight to Sunday’s Day 2 runs on Saturday. The action kicks off at 2 PM, and the 1c players will be chasing Regan Duong, who bagged 535k in Day 1b after being down to 3 big blinds earlier in the day. Day 1a leader Kristopher De Leone isn’t far behind with 522.5k.

Between the first two starting days, the field is already at 223 entries for total prizes of $63,555. That means they only need 128 entries on Day 1c for a final prize pool of $100k, and given that’s not even as many as played Day 1b, it seems like a lock to go well above that $100k number. Given the usual increase from day to day, I expect a field of at least 170 for Day 1c, and if they hit that number, it would mean $112k in prizes for Day 2.

As with the first two starting flights, 1c players get 25k to start, and play 30-minute levels throughout Day 1. Entries are open for 11 levels, with the desk closing at about 8:45 when they sit down to Level 12. After that, they play down to 10% of the starting field before the night ends. Given the first two flights, 1c players should expect to be playing into Level 18 before the bags come out, with both days so far playing till around 1 AM.

    Chip Leader 1b Regan Duong

The 13 bags are collected and collated, and Regan Duong was indeed the big stack from Day 1b. He bagged 535k, while second-place Essam Saadeddine has 469k. Colby MacDonald, Benny Sarnelli, and Dylan Payne round out the top five counts tonight.

Duong’s stack puts him in the provisional lead for Day 2, pending the results of Saturday’s Day 1c. He has about 10k more than Day 1a leader Kristopher De Leone, and Saadeddine capped the Day 1a #2 by about 2k.

  • Day 1b is Over with 13 Remaining

    Level:18 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:13/130 (22/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:12:30 AM

The 1b players are bagging up their chips now, with 13 players remaining. I’ll get a full post of the 1b stacks up a little later, but it looks like Regen Duong bagged the lead tonight with well over 400k, after being down to just 3 bug blinds earlier in the night.

  • End of Night Bubble

    Level:18 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:14/130 (23/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:12:25 AM

Day 1b is on the bubble to the bags now, with 14 players left. The clock is paused with 20:40 remaining in Level 18, and they are removing 2 minutes from the clock manually for each hand played until the next elimination brings out the bags.

  • 4 Off the Bags

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:17/130 (26/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:11:55 PM

The 1b field is down to 17 now, after a couple of quick eliminations right after they returned from the break. That puts them 4 off the bags, on the final two tables.

  • Saadeddine Leads 6 Off the Bags

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:19/130 (28/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:11:45 PM

Level 17 has just begun, with players back from what will likely be the final break of Day 1b. They are now 6 off the bags with 19 players left, and Essam Saadeddine is the leader right now with about 420k in front of him. Alex Liu, Regen Duong, Benny Sarnelli, Dylan Payne, Pete Fylyma, Dave Howat, Andy Truong, and Willie Hernandez are among the other players still alive.

  • Down to 20

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:20/130 (29/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:11:20 PM

They are now seven eliminations away from the bags for Day 1b. Level 16 has just over 10 minutes to play, with another break to follow this level. It’s still looking like a good bet for the night to end in Level 17, though how long the bubble plays will certainly be a factor.

  • Down to 25

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:25/130 (34/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:10:40 PM

They are now 12 players away from the bags in Day 1b, with about 15 minutes to play in Level 15. Things have slowed a bit since they returned from the break, but it still looks like today will end sometime in Level 17.

  • 29 Players Remain, 16 Off the Bags

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:29/130 (38/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:10:05 PM

The field is down to 29 players now, with 13 bags expected at the end of the night. That puts them 16 eliminations away from the end of the night. There are 10 minutes remaining in Level 14, with a break to follow this level. It’s looking like this flight should end earlier than 1a, likely sometime in Level 17.

  • 130 Entries for 1b

    Level:12 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:39/130 (48/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:9:25 PM

The numbers for 1b are official now, and it looks like they found an extra buy-in while counting the money. The final confirmed total for 1b is 130 entries, for a combined total so far of 223 and $63,555 in prizes.

  • 129 Entries (Unofficial) for 1b

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)

    Prizes:$36,765 (Combined: $63,270)
    Local Time:8:50 PM

Entries are now closed for the second flight to Sunday’s Day 2, and the final number for 1b looks to be 129 entries. That number is still awaiting confirmation, but if it holds, it should mean 13 bags at the end of the night, and a combined prize pool going into Day 1c of $63,270. That means that a final prize pool of over $100k looks like a lock. Day 1c only needs to hit 130 entries, essentially the same field as today, to hit that number, and the expectation is that 1c will easily surpass the 1b numbers.

  • More than $60k Combined

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:61/119 (70/212 combined)
    Prizes:$33,915 (Combined: $60,420)
    Local Time:7:30 PM

The combined prizes are now over $60k, with 119 entries on the board for Day 1b. That puts the combined field at 212 entries, for more than $60k in combined prizes.

Entries are still open for a bit more than an hour, so a final field between 130 & 140 is still looking like a decent bet.

  • Final Three Levels of Entry for 1b

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:64/114 (73/207 combined)
    Prizes:$32,490 (Combined: $58,995)
    Local Time:7:00 PM

The 1b players are back from their dinner break now, and are starting the final three levels with entries still open. The field after dinner is 114 entries for today’s flight, for a combined total of 207 so far. The total prizes are now just a couple of entries shy of $60k combined.

  • Dinner Time

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:65/110 (74/203 combined)
    Prizes:$31,350 (Combined: $57,855)
    Local Time:6:15 PM

The 1b players are on their dinner break now with the conclusion of Level 8. They’ll be away from the felt for about 45 minutes, and return to three more levels of open entries.

The 1b field is at 110 entries now, for a combined total of 203 and prizes of almost $58k.

  • 1b Hits 100 Entries

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:69/100 (78/193 combined)
    Prizes:$28,500 (Combined: $55,005)
    Local Time:5:20 PM

1b has just hit 100 entries, with about 3.5 hours left to enter today’s second flight. That puts the combined field 7 entries shy of 200, for combined prizes of more than $55k. I still expect another 30-40 entries before it closes, for a final number today between 130 & 140.

  • More than $50k in Prizes

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:70/90 (79/183 combined)
    Prizes:$25,650 (Combined: $52,155)
    Local Time:4:55 PM

About 20 minutes remain in Level 6, and the 1b field is now at 90, just 3 off the total for 1a. That puts the combined prizes at more than $52k, and it’s still looking like a decent bet to see $60k or more in the prizes by the end of today’s entries.

They need 118 entries today to cap $60k, and that seems like a lock based on the current pace.If they get to my predicted 140, that will mean more than $66k in prizes before the final flight even starts. There are just under 4 hours left to get into today’s game.

  • Back in Action

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:65/81 (74/174 combined)
    Prizes:$23,085 (Combined: $49,590)
    Local Time:4:20 PM

The 1b players are back in their seats for Level 5, and the field is at 81 for today’s flight, and 174 combined. That puts the total prizes just two entries shy of $50k.

  • Nearly $50k Combined at First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:63/77 (72/170 combined)
    Prizes:$21,945 (Combined: $48,450)
    Local Time:3:55 PM

They are moments away from the end of Level 4, and the first break of Day 1b. The field is now at 77, just 16 off the total for 1a, putting the combined field at 170 for $48,450 in prizes. They only need 6 more entries to hit $50k combined, so it seems like a good bet that today’s entries will close with combined prizes of $60k or more. If they hit my predicted 140 entries for today, that will mean a combined prize pool of more than $66k going into the final flight.

  • Final Level Before First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:58/71 (67/164 combined)
    Prizes:$20,235 (Combined: $46,740)
    Local Time:3:40 PM

About 20 minutes remain in Level 4, with the first break of the day scheduled after this level. The 1b field is now at 71, just 22 off the total for 1a, with 5 hours still left in entries. It’s still looking like a decent bet to see a 1b field of 140+ at this point, but the pace of entries going forward will determine that. As it stands, this flight looks set to beat 1a early in Level 5.

Seniors champ Bill Thomson is among the players I spotted in the field recently. as well as Jerry Li, Karim Chatur, Kyle Dery, Shane Brotherwood, Jeet Shergill, Dave Howat, Andy Truong, Colin Burton, Willie Hernandez, and Graham Lupton.

  • More than 155 Entries Combined

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:57/63 (66/156 combined)
    Prizes:$17,955 (Combined: $44,460)
    Local Time:3:15 PM

Level 3 is about halfway finished, and the field is now at 63 entries for Day 1b. That puts the combined total at 156 entries so far for total prizes just shy of $45k.

Among the recent entries I spotted was Benny Sarnelli. Sarnelli was here at Deerfoot in January for the record-setting WSOP-C games, and he bagged his first ring in the biggest event ever in the Alberta poker market, the Mini Main Event. That game was the closest analog to this opening multi-day game from the January Circuit series, so a win in this one from Sarnelli would be something close to a back-to-back.

  • 1b is Over 50 Entries

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:51/51 (60/144 combined)
    Prizes:$14,535 (Combined: $41,040)
    Local Time:2:40 PM

Level isn’t quite halfway finished, and the field has already cracked 50 entries for 1b. That puts the combined field jus shu of 150 entries, with combined prizes of more than $41k.

There are still 6 hours left to enter today’s flight, with the final flight running at 2 PM tomorrow. I’m expecting to see another ~100 entries for today’s game before the desk closes at 8:45 PM.

  • More than $10k in 1b Prizes in Opening Level

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:36/36 (45/129 combined)
    Prizes:$10,260 (Combined: $36,765)
    Local Time:2:15 PM

Level 1 is underway for Day 1b of the first multi-day game in this series, and the early field is looking solid with 36 entries on the board halfway through the opening level of play. Among the players competing for Day 1b bags today are Scott Calvank Russ Slichinski. Garry Chan, Christian Mirkovic, Todd The Rock, and Stephen Dauphinais.

  • Second Flight to Sunday Runs Friday

    Date:Day 1b: Apr 10, 2 PM
    Blinds:30 Minutes (40 with 18 left on Day 2)
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:11 Levels (~8:45 PM)
Day 1 Ends:10% of the field; All Day 2 players in the money
    Entries (1a):9/93
    Prizes (1a):$26,505

Kristopher Di Leone is the stack to beat for 1b players. He led the way out of Day 1a with more than half a million in his bag, while second & third, Bogdan Szafranowicz & Amir Khan, are both playing in the 300k range. Phillip Clingo has 255.5k, while the rest of the 9 qualifiers from 1a have between 100k & 200k.

Day 1b will be a redo of Day 1a, though with a bigger field. I generally expect to see something like a 50% increase from day to day in multi-day games, so a 1b field of 140-ish looks like a decent bet.

The action gets going at 2 PM, with 25k to start. Blinds on Day 1 are 30 minutes, but once they hit 18 players on Day 2, the blinds will jump up to 40 minutes.

Players have 11 levels to enter Day 1 flights, with the final chance to enter coming at around 8:45 PM when they sit down for Level 12. After that, the game plays until the field is down to 10%. Day 1a played until nearly the end of Level 18 before it ended, but I generally expect the Day 1s to end in Level 16 or 17.

  • Di Leone Leads 1a Stacks

    Level:18 (5000/1000/1000)
    Entries:9/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:1:00 AM
    Kristopher Di Leone

The bags are in for Day 1a, and Kristopher Di Leone bagged the biggest with 522.5k. Bogdan Szafranowicz has the second biggest 1a stack with 367.5k, while Amir Khan rounds out the top three with a bit more than 300k. Maru Somers, who led for much of the day, had a rough final few levels after her aces were cracked by Mohsen Shafazideh. She managed to survive and bagged 185k for Day 2.

Day 1a went for nearly 18 full levels before they finally ended the night, with hand-for-hand play going on for almost all of Level 18. The final blinds were 5k/10k/10k, but Day 2 will roll back the blinds to the earliest finishing flight, and it seems reasonable to expect that at least one of the flights will bag up before Level 18.

    Entries:9/93

Day 1a is complete now, with 9 players left. Stay tuned for a look at the final bags tonight.

  • Day 2 Bubble

    Level:18 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:10/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:12:35 AM

They are on the bubble to Day 2 now, with 10 players left in the action. Amir Khan is still playing about 300k, but it looks like Bogdan Szafranowicz has chipped up quite a bit to about 350k for the lead right now. Maru Somers jusy shoved blind on blind, and got the fold to pick up the blinds and antes to stay alive, but the big blind tanked for quite a while, looking like he had a big decision.

  • 11 Left

    Level:17 (4000/8000/800)
    Entries:11/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:12:10 AM

They are down to 11 players remaining in Day 1a, just two eliminations off the bags now. Mohsen Shafazideh was the most recent casualty as he wasn’t able to hold onto the double he got through Maru Somers earlier in the night.

  • Three Off the Bags

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:12/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:12:00 Midnight

John Donnelly lost his short stack recently to end his night in 13th place. He was left short after the big hand with Amir Khan before the break.

They are now down to 12 left, and need to lose three more players before the end of the night.

  • 13 Left

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:13/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:11:30

Amir Khan just took the chip lead on a huge three-way hand. He was in with aces against eights for Josh Myers, and king-queen for John Donnelly. The aces held, sending Myers out in 14th, and dropping Donnelly to fumes/ Kahn is now sitting on more than 300k, but previous leader Maru Somers is still sitting pretty with 225k.

They’ll be back in action for Level 17 in about 10 minutes, with 5 players to go until the bags come out.

  • Down to 15; Somers Takes a Hit

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:15/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:11:15 PM

The 1a field is down to 15 left, and while Maru Somers is still playing a decent stack of about 240k, she recently sent a few chips across the table to Mohsen Shafazideh in a bit of a bad beat. She was in with aces, set to send Shafazideh home and bring the game to 14 against his ace-queen. However, this is poker, and not even aces are a guaranteed win. Shafazideh found two queens on the board to take it down for a double up of his short stack.

  • Back in Action

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:17/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:10:30 PM

Level 15 is now underway, and it seems likely they won’t see another break tonight. The next break would be scheduled for the end of Level 16, but with only 8 players to go until the bags come out, it seems likely they won’t make it that far.

Maru Somers is leading the way with 338.5k as counted on the break.

  • Final Two Tables; Somers Still Leads

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:17/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:10:10 PM

They are down to 17 left in Day 1a of Event #3, with about 5 minutes to play in Level 14. That puts them 8 eliminations off the bags so the end of the night might come a little sooner than I expected.

Maru Somers still looks to be leading with more than 300k in front of her now. She’s also running some advertising for a familiar face in the community; her shirt tonight is advertising Johnny Yu’s AirBnB in Kelowna. If you’re looking for a place to stay in the Okanagan, reach out to Johnny and he’ll get you set up.

Maru Somers, Chip leader near the end of Day 1a of Event #3
  • 9 Bags to End the Night

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:22/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:9:50 PM

The field is down to 22 players left now, with Level 14 just underway. They’ll be playing down to 9 players tonight before the bags come out, but it’s looking like that might take a couple more levels until they get there. The average stack is still at about 25 big blinds, so the field is still relatively deep, and I’m thinking the bags will likely come out sometime in Level 16 or 17.

  • 93 Unofficial Entries for Day 1a

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:33/93
    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:8:45 PM

Entries are closed for Day 1a of Event #3, and the final unofficial total is 93 entries. If that holds, it should mean 9 bags at the end of today’s flight, and $26,505 going into the prizes from the opening flight. I’ll confirm all the numbers shortly.

After a quick look around the stacks on the break, it looks like Maru Somers is among the chip leaders. She is playing just shy of 200k to start Level 12, and there were a couple of other similar stacks at her table, but none of the other tables look to have stacks anywhere close to that.

  • Final Level of Entry for Day 1a

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:32/90
    Prizes:$25,650
    Local Time:8:00 PM

Level 11 has just begun, with the field still at 90. This is the final level for players to buy in or rebuy, with the entries now open for about 45 minutes.

  • Up to 90 Entries

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:42/90
    Prizes:$25,650
    Local Time:7:25 PM

The prizes for the opening flight to Event #3 are now over $25k, with 90 entries on the board. Level 9 has just a few minutes remaining, and there are two more levels of poker with entries open after this one. The desk will shut down for 1a entries when they sit down for Level 12 at about 8:45 PM.

  • 2 Entries Shy of $25k on Dinner

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:42/86
    Prizes:$24,510
    Local Time:6:15 PM

The Event #3 players are on their dinner break now, with the end of Level 8. They’ll be back at the felt for the final three levels of open entry in about 40 minutes, and I’,m still expecting to see 100+ for this one.

  • Closing in on $25k in Prizes

    Level:8 (400/800/800)
    Entries:45/83
    Prizes:$23,655
    Local Time:5:45 PM

The field for Day 1a of Event #3 is now over 80 entries, for prizes of $23,655. Level 8 is just underway, with the dinner break to follow this level.

Entries remain open through dinner, and for another three levels after they return from dinner, with the registration desk set to shut down for this one at about 8:45 PM tonight.

  • Nearly 75 Entries

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:51/74
    Prizes:$21,090
    Local Time:4:35 PM

The prizes are now more than $21k, with 74 entries on the board and about 10 minutes to play in Level 5. Stephen O’Bertos, Francis Krulicki, Travis Kruger, “Gorgeous” Gord Chester, Petar Amic, Amir Khan, and Mohsen Shafazideh are among the players I spotted in the field recently.

  • Nearly $20k in Prizes before First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:55/67
    Prizes:$19,095
    Local Time:4:00 PM

The 1a players are just moments from their first break of the day, and the field is at 67 entries as they head out of the room. There are still 55 players in the action, and entries remain open for another 7 levels of poker once they return from the break.

  • Final Level Before First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:51/59
    Prizes:$16,815
    Local Time:3:30 PM

The prizes are now nearing $17k with 59 entries currently on the board. Level 4 has just begun, and the first break of the day will follow this level.

Entries are open until the start of Level 12, putting the final chance to enter at about 8:45 PM. Given the current numbers, it looks like a lock that today’s flight will end with 100 entries or more.

  • More than $15k in Prizes

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:46/53
    Prizes:$15,105
    Local Time:3:10 PM

The prizes are now over $15k, with 53 entries on the board so far for Day 1a. Level 3 has about 20 minutes to play, and there is one more level of poker before the first break of Day 1a. Entries for today’s flight remain open until about 8:45 PM tonight.

  • Nearing $15k in Prizes

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:42/49
    Prizes:$13,965
    Local Time:2:55 PM

Less than 5 minutes remain in Level 2, with the field now just shy of 50 entries. That puts the prizes one entry shy of $14k, with a bit less than 8 hours left to enter today’s flight.

Ramaz Haymour, Jakub Sujata, Jerry Nelner, and Curtis Singleton were among the players I spotted on my last circuit of the room.

  • 31 Entries to Start the Day

    Level:1 (100/200/200)
    Entries:30/31
    Prizes:$8,835
    Local Time:2:20 PM

Level 1 is nearly complete, and the opening flight field is at 31 entries. That puts the prizes at almost $10k so far, but there’s still lots of time to enter today’s flight, as well as two more starting flights for this game on Friday and Saturday.

Among the players in action early today are Brady O’Hara, bronze medalist from E2 last night, Matthew Ouellette, Maru Somers, Ivanna Yatsiuk, Fred Werezak, and Bogdan Szafranowicz.

  • Multi-Day Deepstack Poker Runs Thursday

    Date:Apr 9, 2 PM
Blinds:30 Minutes (40 Minutes at 18 Players on Day 2)
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:11 Levels (~8:45 PM)
Day 1 Ends:10 % of the Field; All Players ITM on Day 2

The first multi-day game of the 2026 Spring Super Stack kicks off on Thursday afternoon at 2 PM. The $340 game is the first of 3 multi-day games in this series, but this is the only game with three starting flights.

Players get 25k in chips to start, and Day 1 levels are 30 minutes long. They have 11 levels of poker to buy in or rebuy, putting the final entry shot at about 8:45 PM after the dinner break following Level 11.

After that, they play down to 10% of the field before the bags come out, with the top 10% from all three flights coming back on Sanday for Day 2, and everyone is guaranteed some prizes.

Last summer, Adam Cygman found the win over a field of 560 entries, while in the Spring, Shane Chief pulled off an unlikely win, coming back from the shortest Day 2 stack to take it all down over a field of 465.

    Prizes:$26,505
    Local Time:12:50 AM

  • Duong Dominates 1b

    Level:18 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:13/130 (22/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:12:45 AM
    Chip Leader 1b Regan Duong

The 13 bags are collected and collated, and Regan Duong was indeed the big stack from Day 1b. He bagged 535k, while second-place Essam Saadeddine has 469k. Colby MacDonald, Benny Sarnelli, and Dylan Payne round out the top five counts tonight.

Duong’s stack puts him in the provisional lead for Day 2, pending the results of Saturday’s Day 1c. He has about 10k more than Day 1a leader Kristopher De Leone, and Saadeddine capped the Day 1a #2 by about 2k.

  • Day 1b is Over with 13 Remaining

    Level:18 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:13/130 (22/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:12:30 AM

The 1b players are bagging up their chips now, with 13 players remaining. I’ll get a full post of the 1b stacks up a little later, but it looks like Regen Duong bagged the lead tonight with well over 400k, after being down to just 3 bug blinds earlier in the night.

  • End of Night Bubble

    Level:18 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:14/130 (23/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:12:25 AM

Day 1b is on the bubble to the bags now, with 14 players left. The clock is paused with 20:40 remaining in Level 18, and they are removing 2 minutes from the clock manually for each hand played until the next elimination brings out the bags.

  • 4 Off the Bags

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:17/130 (26/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:11:55 PM

The 1b field is down to 17 now, after a couple of quick eliminations right after they returned from the break. That puts them 4 off the bags, on the final two tables.

  • Saadeddine Leads 6 Off the Bags

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:19/130 (28/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:11:45 PM

Level 17 has just begun, with players back from what will likely be the final break of Day 1b. They are now 6 off the bags with 19 players left, and Essam Saadeddine is the leader right now with about 420k in front of him. Alex Liu, Regen Duong, Benny Sarnelli, Dylan Payne, Pete Fylyma, Dave Howat, Andy Truong, and Willie Hernandez are among the other players still alive.

  • Down to 20

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:20/130 (29/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:11:20 PM

They are now seven eliminations away from the bags for Day 1b. Level 16 has just over 10 minutes to play, with another break to follow this level. It’s still looking like a good bet for the night to end in Level 17, though how long the bubble plays will certainly be a factor.

  • Down to 25

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:25/130 (34/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:10:40 PM

They are now 12 players away from the bags in Day 1b, with about 15 minutes to play in Level 15. Things have slowed a bit since they returned from the break, but it still looks like today will end sometime in Level 17.

  • 29 Players Remain, 16 Off the Bags

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:29/130 (38/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:10:05 PM

The field is down to 29 players now, with 13 bags expected at the end of the night. That puts them 16 eliminations away from the end of the night. There are 10 minutes remaining in Level 14, with a break to follow this level. It’s looking like this flight should end earlier than 1a, likely sometime in Level 17.

  • 130 Entries for 1b

    Level:12 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:39/130 (48/223 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $63,555)
    Local Time:9:25 PM

The numbers for 1b are official now, and it looks like they found an extra buy-in while counting the money. The final confirmed total for 1b is 130 entries, for a combined total so far of 223 and $63,555 in prizes.

  • 129 Entries (Unofficial) for 1b

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:51/129 (60/222 combined)

    Entries:65/81 (74/174 combined)
    Prizes:$23,085 (Combined: $49,590)
    Local Time:4:20 PM

The 1b players are back in their seats for Level 5, and the field is at 81 for today’s flight, and 174 combined. That puts the total prizes just two entries shy of $50k.

  • Nearly $50k Combined at First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:63/77 (72/170 combined)
    Prizes:$21,945 (Combined: $48,450)
    Local Time:3:55 PM

They are moments away from the end of Level 4, and the first break of Day 1b. The field is now at 77, just 16 off the total for 1a, putting the combined field at 170 for $48,450 in prizes. They only need 6 more entries to hit $50k combined, so it seems like a good bet that today’s entries will close with combined prizes of $60k or more. If they hit my predicted 140 entries for today, that will mean a combined prize pool of more than $66k going into the final flight.

  • Final Level Before First Break

  • Al Ghunaim Leads 1c By a Mile

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:22/219 (44/442 combined)
    Prizes:$62,415 (Combined: $125,970)
    Local Time:12:30 AM

The stacks are collated, and Hasanain Al Ghunaim is the chip leader by far. He bagged 733k at the end of 1c, with Brian Fleming’s second-place stack only at 488.5k.

Regan Duong opened under the gun to 120k, and Phillip Clingo called from the big blind. Clingo check-called for 80k on the 2AJ flop, then switched it up with a lead of 210k on the 10 turn. Duong thought for a few seconds before sending his hand to the muck.

    Colby MacDonald

I missed the action while I was updating the side game, but the Deepstack field is down to 7 after Colby MacDonald, who was on the Team final table last night with his father, hit the rail for 8th place. Just over 20 minutes remain in Level 26, and I’ll grab another round of counts at the break.

  • Kyle James Out in 9th Place for $2,141

The final table is now being set after Aaron Froese busted for 11th place. I missed the action, but I did see Kyle James stacking up his chips as he headed to the payout desk.

Stay tuned for the final table faces shortly.

  • Balog Repops the Repop

    Entries:11/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:4:15 PM

While no cards were exposed, there was still a lot of action in a recent hand on Table 30. Adam Balog opened under the gun to 85k, and Colby MacDonald called from the cutoff, before big blind & big stack Regan Duong came over the top to 280k.

Balog hit the tank for about 30 seconds before announcing “All in” as a four-bet. MacDonald and Duong both got out of the way pretty quickly.

  • Robertson Has Heart

    Entries:11/442
    Prizes:$125,970
    Local Time:4:05 PM

Matthew Robertson opened under the gun to 80k, and it folded to Aaron Froese in the big blind, who slid out the call. They both checked the 10K2 flop, and Froese fired 55k on the 4 turn that brought hearts to the board.

Robertson called to the 9 river, then fired 200k after a check from Froese. Froses tanked for about 30 seconds before he tossed in the one-chip call, counting out the rest of the call after Robertson showed KQ and Froese mucked.

    Entries:44/442
