2025 Pure Poker Tour Series #3 – Event #9: $340 PLO Bounty

Michael Legacy had one cash recorded on his Hendon Mob page before tonight’s tournament. Perhaps it was fate that he’d win tonight, since it was exactly one year ago that Legacy booked that first cash, right here at Pure Casino Edmonton in the July 2024 edition of the PPT. He was seventh last year in Event #2 on July 23rd, 2024, and now he’s recorded his second cash and first win ezactly one year later.

He had to battle some tough spots to get there as well. Throughout the final table he had to contend with DJ Sharma, who is a handful to play against at the best of times, but this week is running hotter than the sun. After Sharma dispatched most of the final table, it ended up coming down Legacy and the fast-talking McDonald’s magnate.

Despite the fact this was Sharma’s third final table and third runner-up finish this week, Legacy wasn’t intimidated. He played a cool, patient game, taking his shots where he found them, until heads up, when he ramped it up. The biggest spot came just a couple of hands before the end.

Sharma was the aggressor in the early part of the hand, raising Legacy’s limp preflop, then potting the flop and turn. Legacy hung around with calls to the river, and when Sharma checked it, he forced a fold with a bet that covered the rest of Sharma’s stack.

He got the fold to leave his opponent on fumes, and it all ended shortly after when Legacy found a straight on the turn to hand Sharma his third runner-up finish of the week.

It’s been quite a week for DJ Sharma here at Pure Casino Edmonton. He just picked uo his third second-place spot this week after falling just short again. He was the big stack early, and was a wrecking ball for much of the early part of the final table, sending five of the FT players home tonight, to stack up a total of 22 bounties to add to his cashout.

Sharma was left short after a big where Michael Legacy limped, then called when Sharma made it 60k. Sharma potted for 140k on the 10♦2♠5♣ flop and got the call, then potted for 420k on the 9♠ turn. Legacy called to 5♥ river, where he bet 250k, enough to cover the rest of Sharma’s stack after a check.

Sharma folded that hand, but it all went in on the next one. When Legacy turned the straight on him, it was all over, and he had to take home another second place.

Lynn Norris was very short coming back from the break, and she couldn’t spin it up. However, she was short for most of the final table, and managed to ladder over several bigger stacks for 3rd place tonight.

Michael Legacy took a huge lead just before the break. He now has 2.3 million after the biggest pot of the night. Lynn Norris limped from the button before DJ Sharma potted to 60k. Both Legacy and Norris called to the 6♥A♦2♥ flop. Sharma potted again for 195k, and only Legacy called.

Sharma checked the 8♦ turn, then called when Legacy potted for 585k. The river was 3♠ and Sharma check folded to the shove from Legacy. Legacy showed a set of aces with the heart draw as he picked up the biggest pot of the night.

Sharma has 630k, while Lynn Norris is playing the short stack with 90k.

They are down to three now after DJ Sharma sent Krys Alipio to the rail. Both players flopped two pair, but Sharma had top two over bottom two for Alipio. Nothing changed on the rest of the board, and Alipio was out in 4th.

Sharma and Michael Legacy have most of the chips now, with Lynn Norris hanging out on the short stack.

Michael Legacy bet 30k under the gun, and DJ Sharma called blind from the small blind, as did Krys Alipio from the big. Sharma potted for 105k on the 10♥K♥A♠ flop (after looking at his hand), and Legacy flatted to the 2♥ turn.

Both players checked to the 2♦ river, where Sharma check-called 200k. Legacy showed J♦J♥9♥3♥ for the flush, and Sharma’s cards hit the muck.

Michael Legacy just logged the first bounty on the final table that didn’t go to DJ Sharma. He flopped a set on Tony Ma and held for the win over Ma’s flopped straight draws and turned pair. The set held, and they are down to 4 players remaining now.

DJ Sharma potted from the button to 42k, and Michael Legacy called from the big blind. Legacy check-called for 46k on the 5♠7♣10♦ flop, then they both checked it down through the 4♣Q♣ runout. Sharma showed A♦Q♥3♠3♣ for the rivered pair of queens.

“Got me on the end again,” Legacy said as he mucked his hand.

The unstoppable train of DJ Sharma keeps rolling over this final table. He just sent Thomas Kohut to the rail in 6th place after Kohut flopped top set, but couldn’t hold against the rivered straight for Sharma. That marks Sharma’s fourth bounty at this final table, and so far, he’s the only one to collect any FT bounties.

DJ Sharma is running pure tonight. He just flopped the wheel with a spade redraw to crack the king-king-queen-jack of Raul Cruz and bring the game to six. So far, he’s been the cause of every bust on the final table.

They are down to seven now after Ben Wilson ran into the unstoppable DJ Sharma. On the flop of ace-ten-three, Wilson got his money with ace-jack-jack-x, but Sharma flopped two pair with ace-three. The turn and river bricked for Wilson and he was out in 8th place tonight.

Sharma is at about 1.3 million now and is leading the table, while Michael Legacy looks to be in second with about 600k.

Brady O’Hara got his short stack in with kings, against Broadway cards for DJ Sharma. O’Hara was way in front, but Sharma is running hot this week, and he hit trip tens on the turn to cap O’Hara’s kings and send him home in 9th place.

DJ Sharma potted the middle for 21k, and Brady O’Hara called from the cutoff, as did Michael Legacy and Ben Wilson in the blinds. The flop was 3♣9♠4♣ and Sharma bet 35k, which was all that O’Hara had behind. O’Hara put it in, and Legacy also called before Wilson mucked his hand.

The side pot action between Sharma and Legacy checked through the rest of the 3♠K♦ board. Sharma showed a king with a queen kicker for two pair, but O’Hara had 9♣9♥8♣7♠ for the flopped set and the triple up.

DJ Sharma limped in, and four more players called to go five ways to K♠Q♣3♠. It checked to DJ Sharma and he fired 16k. Ben Wilson and Thomas Kohut both called, while Tony Ma and Lynn Norris got our of the way.

The turn was 6♣, and it checked around to 10♥ where it checked again. Sharma announced two pair, but Kohut had the better two with A♥Q♦10♦6♥ for queens and tens.

The board was already on the turn reading 4♠9♦J♣4♦ and four-way action checked to DJ Sharma on the button. He fired a bet of 27k, pushing Brady O’Hara out of the hand. Michael Legacy was in early position and potted to 158k, pushing both Tony Ma and Sharma out of the pot. That extended Legacy’s chip lead to about 1.3 million of the 3 million in play.

Hand for hand lasted exactly one hand. I arrived at the table with the 2♠4♣8♠ flop already out. Small blind Thomas Kohut checked to Traci Horpestad, who put in the rest of her short stack. Kohut called and was ahead with two pair on 8♦6♠5♥2♦ against A♥K♥K♦4♦.

The board ran out 10♥2♥ to give Kohut the boat and the win, while Horpestad bubbled the money.

They are down to 14 players left in the PLO Bounty game, putting them on the bubble to the money. The clock is paused, and they’ll take two minutes off the clock for each hand played until the next elimination.

The PLO Bounty field is down to the final two tables now with 18 players left. They need to eliminate another 5 players to get into the money, but the stacks are pretty deep right now, with more than 50 big blinds in the average stack.

The field is down to 19 left in the PLO bounty with Level 13 just underway. That puts them 6 eliminations off the money. DJ Sharma looks to be down a bit in chips now from the last time I checked, while Michael Legacy looks to have taken over the lead with more than 500k in front of him.

Thirteen players will be getting a piece of the $22,385 in ITM prizes later tonight, with the winner set to pocket $6.1k. Full prizes are loaded under the Payouts tab, as well as below.

Entries are closed for the PLO Bounty with the final confirmed field at 121 entries. That puts $34,485 into the combined prize pool, with $22,385 waiting for in-the-money prizes, and $12,100 locked up in bounties.

DJ Sharma looks to be running well again here tonight with about 500k in front of him for what looks like the chip lead. He’s already been heads up twice this week in one-day events, and it looks like he’s set for another deep run in this one, despite the fact that PLO isn’t his best game. On the other hand, when your best game is “Sharma Time” and the game is a bounty, it may not matter how many cards Sharma is dealt; in addition to his stack of chips, he also has at least 13 bounty chips in front of him for guaranteed 6th-place cash already with $1,300 already in the bank.

There are about 20 minutes until the first break of the day in the PLO Bounty game, and the field is closing in on 75. That puts the combined prizes at $20,805, with $13,505 of that reserved for payouts later tonigh, and the rest in the bounty pool ($7,300). There are about 2.5 hours left to get into this game.

The PLO Bounty game is looking like a decent turnout with the field at 60 entries in Level 4. That puts $16,815 into the combined prize pool so far, with $5,900 of that reserved for bounties. Entries are still open for a bit more than 3 hours, so it’s looking like a decent bet for a field of 100 or more.
