2025 Summer Super Stack – Event #15: $340 PLO Bounty

After a relatively slow final table for most of the evening, the ending was lightning. The game went from four to 1 in just a few hands after Mike Malm scored a double knockout of Dave Howat and Colby Niven, for 4th and 3rd, respectively, then sent Viet D packing after just a couple of heads-up hands.

In the opening salvo, Malm called under the gun, Howat potted to 135k, leaving himself just 90k behind, and both Niven and Malm called to the 9♥6♠9♦ flop. Howat shoved for his last 90k under the gun before Niven pumped it up to 200k.

Malm flatted to the 10♥ turn, and the money was in in a flash. Niven potted, Malm repotted to cover Niven, and Niven called it off. Malm turned the boat with A♥10♦9♠6♦ against A♣K♦Q♠Q♣ for Howat, and jack-jack-nine-three for Niven. The 5♣ river was meaningless, and Howat was out in 4th, with Niven out in 3rd.

That left Malm with a huge chip lead heads up with Viet D. Viet managed a double in the opening hand of heads up, but seconds later, it was over. I missed the final action while I was trying to write up the double-knockout, but Malm’s winning hand was A♠J♦9♦8♣. Malm added $1,700 in bounty cash to his $5,495 score.

Howat flopped it with J♥9♠8♣6♠, but Malm was drawing to hearts with A♠J♦10♥8♥. The Q♥6♥ runout flipped it to Malm and he’s now the chip leader, while Howat is down to around 400k.

Immediately after the break, Julius Rqoue woke up with aces and got his short stack in. Unfortunately for him, he ran into kings that hit a set on the board to send him home. Including his 4 bounties, he pocketed $1,825 tonight.

Dave Howat limped second to act before Fraezor Caldwell potted to 90k. Colby Niven made it 300k before Howat shoved all in. Caldwell called off a short stack, while Niven tank-folded kings.

Both players were double-suited with Howat on A♣J♠10♣2♠ against Q♥9♣4♥3♣. When the board ran out 8♠6♥8♥8♦2♣ was the winner and Caldwell was on his way to cage to cash for $1,018 plus $300 in bounty cash.

Mike Malm opened under the gun to 55k, and Julius Roque shoved for 102k. It folded back to Malm, and he snapped it off with K♦Q♣9♣3♦ against Roque’s A♠A♣8♥7♦. Malm missed his suits on the board of 6♠7♠K♠2♦7♣, and Roque’s aces held for the double.

There’s a break coming in about 15 minutes, and I’ll grab a full round of counts for the remaining players then.

They are down to 6 players left after two quick exits while I was writing the 9th place bustout. Paul Sokoloff was 8th tonight, with Ryan Cairns in 7th. Sokoloff bagged $200 in extra bounty cash, but I didn’t catch how many bounties Cairns picked up tonight.

The money went in on the flop of 10♠5♥3♠ with Dave Howat holding aces with a spade draw, against the straight draws and top pair for Kalil Geha. Howat hit the set on the turn, then rivered spades for a decisive win. Geha requested his picture not be used.

The PLO Bounty players are on a break with the game now in the money. Mike Malm is the chip leader for the final 11 players with 647k, more than 1/3rd of the chips in play. Paul Sokoloff, Julius Roque, Dave Howat, Ryan Cairns, and Kang Luong are among the other players in action.

I’m still finishing up some stuff for the Main Event, but I should be on this one for the final table.

The prizes are in, and the winner tonight is set to pocket just shy of $5.5k. As expected, 11 players will be sharing in $20,450 in prizes later tonight, with an additional $11k in bounties floating around the game.

They are down to 18 players left in the PLO Bounty game, and it looks like Mike Malm is the leader with about 540k in front of him. The prizes for this game should be posted shortly.

The final tally for the PLO Bounty game was 110 entries, though that number is still unofficial. If that is confirmed when the prizes are posted, it will mean they got $11k in bounties tonight, plus $20,350 for the prize pool to be shared by 11 players, for combined prizes of $31,350.

This one looks to be playing down pretty quickly, with just 26 players left in the game. That said, I still expect this one to go pretty late, as the bounties will start becoming less important as they near the money.

The PLO Bounty field is up to 71 entries for combined prizes of $20,325, with $7,100 of that in bounties. Among the players in the game are Doug Lee, Pav Braich, Kang Luong, Amir Khan, Mike St Pierre-Porter, Bash Ramahi, Paul Sokoloff, Eddie G, Mal Hagan, Rick Behl, Sal Haji, Ramaz Haymour, Mike Malm, Ed Zurawell, Jerry Li (who just late-reg’d to this one after chopping for the win in the $560 Megastack), Garry Chan, Todd Oakley, Ty Adams, Jerod Dobson (who chopped for the win in the HORSE earlier in the week), Dave Howat, and Darlene Hernandez.

There is more than $10k in the prize pool, with Level 4 just getting started. In addition to those prizes, there is $5,600 in bounties in the game, with $100 on each player’s head, for a combined prize pool of just under $16k.

The side game on Friday night is the PLO Bounty for $340. $100 of the entry fee goes to the bounty, with the other $200 in the prize pool for end-of-night payouts.

Cards go in the air at 7 pm, and entries are open for 9 levels, which should put the final entry at around 10:30 PM. This is a one-day event, so they’ll decide a winner before play stops.

This game is my third priority on Friday, but I should be able to catch the end of it after the Main Event bags. Expect this game to run pretty late.
