  • Jerry Li Defeats Scott Fingland for 3rd PLO Ring

    Level:28 (60000/120000/120000)
    Entries:1/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:5 AM

Jerry Li likes to say, “I got lucky,” when you congratulate him on a win. And, as a poker player, it’s good to acknowledge the part that luck plays in winning any tournament in this game. Players rarely win a tournament without getting there from behind at least once.

But equally, when a player racks up 3 rings and a bracelet in the same discipline, it’s safe to say there’s more going on than JUST luck. This was Li’s 3rd ring in 4-card poker, and he won a bracelet in the game a couple of years agi in Las Vegas as well, so it’s a safe bet that Li knows his 4-card poker.

In the earlier part of the day, Li was chasing leaders like Michael Khan (3rd, $11,372), but as they got to 3 tables, he started to turn up the heat. By the time they got to the final ten, he was sitting on the big stack, and he never gave it up.

Li was a bit of a wrecking ball at the final table, scoring most of the knockouts on his way to the win, and at the end, he had a stack of bounties worth at least $2k to go with his win. When he got heads up with Scott Fingland, he had a huge lead of about 3:1.

Fingland made it a game, however, getting into it with Li on several pots, and doubling up once to get within another double of the lead. But that was as far as he got, as Li’s relentless aggression at the FT kept him chipped down and on his heels.

In the final confrontation, the money went in on the 9 high rainbow flop, when Li check-shoved over a pot of 840k from Fingland. He called with aces and a queen-deuce of clubs, while Li was wrapped up like a mummy with eight-seven-six-six on the 592 flop.

The 7 turn gave Fingland a club draw, but it gave Li the made straight. When the river 6 came, Li’s straight held the day, and he had his 3rd PLO ring.

  • Fingland Doubles to Stay Alive

    Level:27 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:2/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:4:40 PM

Scott Fingland raised to 300k, then called when Jerry Li made it 900k to go. Li shoved the big stack on the flop of 5A4 and Fingland called for his tournament life.

Li was ahead with AQ52 against KJ84, but Fingland tripped up on the turn when the board ran out 43.

The players are now on a break, with Li still in the lead with more than 7 million, while Fingland has around 4 million now.

  • Michael Khan Out in 3rd Place for $11,372

    Level:27 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:2/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:4:30 AM
    Michael Khan

They are heads up now after Michael Khan hit the rail for 3rd place tonight. I missed the action writing up the Peters bust.

That leaves Jerry Li heads up with Scott Fingland, and while the average stack is technically more than 50 bigs, Li ha most of the chips in play right now.

  • Wesley Peters Out in 4th Place for $7,892

    Level:27 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:3/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:4:20 AM
    Wesley Peters

Jerry Li raised to 240k from the small blind before Wesley Peters potted the big to 720k. Li shoved, and Peters called his dregs behind.

Peters was on queens with a ten-four, while Li was playing ace-nine-eigh-five. Li hit aces & eights on the flop and never looked back as the board ran out A68K6. Neither player had diamonds, and Li’s two better was better than Peters’.

  • Taylor, Teliani Out

    Level:26 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:4/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:4:10 AM

They are down to 4 now after Nu Teliani and Thomas Taylor busted immediately after Jinny Nguyen lost his chips. I missed the action while writing the previous hand.

    PlacePlayerPrize
    5 Thomas Taylor$5,596
    6 Nu Teliani$4,056
  • Jinny Nguyen Out in 7th Place for $3,006

    Level:26 (40000/80000/80000)
    Entries:6/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:4 AM
    Jinny Nguyen

Jerry Li raised the middle to 150k in the final hand of the previous level. Michael Khan flatted from the small blind before Jinny Nguyen potted to 600k. Li falt-called, while Khan Tank-folded.

Nguyen shoved the J106Q4 flop, and Li snapped it off. Nguyen had a pair of sixes and a gutty with ace-queen-seven-six, but li was on two pair and open-ended with king-queen-jack-ten. Q4 on the runout kept Li ahead, and he chipped up to more than 5 million for the big lead, while Nguyen hit the cage for 7th place.

  • Peters Sends Two to the Cage

    Level:25 (30000/60000/60000)
    Entries:7/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:3:40 AM

Robert Orosz raised to 100k early, and Wesley Peters called from the middle, as did the button, Hai Oan. The flop is where it all went wild.

It checked to Oan who shoved for 115k. Orosz was next to act, and he reshoved for 345k. Peters asked for a count and then called from the biggest stack.

Oan was on two pair and a straight draw with A764, Orosz was on aces with a jack-deuce, while Peters was playing queens and nines. The turn hit Peters where it counts, giving him a set of nines, and the river bricked when the board ran 9J.

That left Peters with the best of it, and Oan took 9th place tonight, while Orosz got 8th.

Michael Elborn busted from the final table while I was processing the pictures, so the field is now down to 9 left.

  • Oan Flops it

    Level:22 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:10/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:2:55 AM

Hai Xuan Oan checked his option after Michael Elborn limped the button. Oan check-called for 40k on the 948 flop, and they both checked through the A6 turn and river.

Elborn said he had two pair, but Oan showed a set of fours with ace-four-four-deuce and took it down. Meanwhile, two players hit the rail to set up the final table. Final table pictures will come shortly.

    Local Time:1:40 AM

The action continues to move relatively quickly in tonight’s game, with the field now down to 26 players left. The average stack is just 21 big blinds right now, which is likely driving some of the action. There’s a break coming at the end of Level 21, and I’ll get full chip updates then, but it looks like Michael Khan still has a very big stack, and Jerry Li, who has two rings and a bracelet in four-card poker, just sent a couple of players to the rail to set the final three tables and build a nice stack himself.

The players are dropping quickly so far in the PLO Bounty, with the field now down to 39 left. It looks like the action might be slowing a bit now as they approach the final four tables, and I’m still expecting another 3-4 hours at least before this game ends.

The field is down to 61 players left on the break following Level 15. I’ll get the payouts updated shortly, but I just had a look around the field while they were on break, and Michael Khan looks to be the clear leader with 687k. David Zoerb looks to be second with about 560k, and Pav Braich is on 550k for the top three stacks right now.

    Entries:86/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:11:25 PM

The bubble took just a couple of hands tonight before the final elimination before the money. All remaining players are now in the money, and it’s a race to the ring.

The action has been moving very quickly to this point, but I expect it to slow as they move through the money spots, and I’m expecting the game to go until around 5 AM at least.

  • Bubble Time

    Level:14 (3000/5000/5000)
    Entries:87/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:11:20 PM

The PLO Bounty is now on the bubble with 87 players left and 86 players paid. The clock is paused with 14:02 remaining in Level 14, and they are on the second hand of hand-for-hand play. Two minutes will come off the clock manually for each hand played until the next elimination.

  • Ten to the Money

    Level:13 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:96/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:11:00 PM

They are down to 96 players left now, 10 off the money, and the action is moving quickly. There are about 7 minutes left in Level 13, and it looks like the bubble play will happen near the end of this level, or the start of the next one.

  • Field Confirmed at 569; Prizes Under the Payouts Tab

    Level:12 (2000/3000/3000)
    Entries:108/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($130,870 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:10:35

They are 22 off the money with 108 players left. The prizes are now in, with the field confirmed at 569 entries. That makes this the biggest PLO Bounty game ever here at WSOP-C Calgary, and it wasn’t even close. The previous record was set last January when this game got 432 entries, so today’s field is more than 130 above that previous record.

    Entries:176/569
    Prizes:$187,770 Combined Prizes ($121,482 Prizes, $56,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:9:50 PM

Entries for the PLO Bounty are now closed, and the unofficial total was 569 entries. If that number holds when the prizes go up, it will mean 86 players getting paid later tonight.

  • Final Break of Entries

    Level:9 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:177/554
    Prizes:$182,820 Combined Prizes ($118,279 Prizes, $55,400 Bounties)
    Local Time:9:35

There are just over 10 minutes remaining in entry, with the current players on a break following Level 9. The combined prizes are more than $180k, but I expect that number to grow still with players entering on the break. With the current numbers, it looks like 84 players will get paid tonight, but that number could go higher depending on how active the reg-desk is for this break.

  • Final Level of Entry

    Level:9 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:198/527
    Prizes:$173,910 Combined Prizes ($112,515 Prizes, $52,700 Bounties)
    Local Time:9:15 PM

The final level of entry has just begun with 527 entries on the board. The combined prizes are now closing in on $175k, wth more than $112k of that waiting for the prizes later tonight.

Craig Allen looks like the chip leader right now, playing 220k. He looks to be the only one with 200k or more, but Brady O’Hara is among a few players in the 100k range right now.

  • More than $150k in Combined Prizes

    Level:7 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:217/463
    Prizes:$152,790 Combined Prizes ($98,851 Prizes, $46,300 Bounties)
    Local Time:8:40 PM

The PLO Bounty players are into the final three levels of entry tonight, and this is turning into a pretty massive field. This is already the biggest PLO Bounty field ever at WSOP-C, capping the Jan 2025 figure of 432 entries before the first break of the day. Given the pace of entries, there’s no question this game will see more than 500 entries, and there’s a good chance it’ll get to 600, as players seem pretty eager to re-enter this one tonight.

  • Nearing 450 Entries on First Break

    Level:6 (400/800/800)
    Entries:216/442
    Prizes:$145,860 Combined Prizes ($94,367 Prizes, $44,200 Bounties)
    Local Time:8:20 PM

The PLO Bounty is on the first break, with entries still open until the end of the next break following Level 9. The field now is at 442 entries for combined prizes of $145k, and almost $95k of that waiting for prizes later tonight.

With the pace of entry so far, it looks like this game could easily end with over 600 entries. The game is already ahead of both fields in this event from 2025, so this is another example of the great turnout so far for this series.

  • Nearly 400 Entries

    Level:5 (300/600/600)
    Entries:234/392
    Prizes:$129,360 Combined Prizes ($83,692 Prizes, $39,200 Bounties)
    Local Time:7:50 PM

The PLO Bounty field is now nearing 400 entries, with 234 players still active at the felt. That puts the total prizes just under $130k, with nearly $40k of that in the bounty pool.

Level 5 is about half finished, and entries remain open for just under 2 hours.

  • More than $110k in Combined Prizes

    Level:4 (300/500/500)
    Entries:244/338
    Prizes:$111,540 Combined Prizes ($72,163 Prizes, $33,800 Bounties)
    Local Time:7:20 PM

The combined prize pool is now over $110k, with more than $70k waiting for end-of-night prizes and almost $34k in the bounty pool.

JJ Johnstone, Steven Horak, Cuong Lieu, Chris Potter, Jen Peters, Sunny Lubana, Steven Dejarlais, Peter Darlington, Sunni Pil, Dallas Larson, and Thomas Taylor are among the players in tonight’s game.

  • Three Hours to Enter

    Level:2 (200/300/300)
    Entries:230/259
    Prizes:$85,470 Combined Prizes ($55,297 Prizes, $25,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:6:45 PM

The combined prizes are now over $85k, with almost 260 entries on the board. Level 2 is about half complete, and the end of entries is now about 3 hours away.

  • $75k in Combined Prizes

    Level:1 (100/200/200)
    Entries:222/229
    Prizes:$75,570 Combined Prizes ($48,892 Prizes, $22,900 Bounties)
    Local Time:6:35 PM

Less than 5 minutes remain in Level 1, and the field is pushing 230 entries. That puts the combined prizes over $75k, with almost $49k of the waiting for the prizes at the end of the night, and $22.9k in the flat bounty pool.

  • Late Start for the PLO

    Level:1 (100/200/200)
    Entries:192/192
    Prizes:$63,360
    Local Time:6:20 PM

The PLO Bounty game is finally underway, about 20 minutes after the advertised start time. There were 192 entries on the board by the time cards went into the air, for a combined prize pool of almost $65k.

Gerry Edwards, Haven Taylor, Wesley Peters, Scott Stuve, Fraezor Caldwell, Stephen Scuderi, Shane Chief, Benny Sarnelli, and Pete Fylyma are among the players in their seats for the opening level of play. Entries are open for about 3.5 hours from the start of play, putting the end of entries at about 9:50 because of the late start.

  • Nearly $50k in Prizes Before Start

    Level:1 (100/200/200)
    Entries:143/143
    Prizes:$47,190
    Local Time:6:05 PM

The PLO Bounty game hasn’t quite kicked off yet, but the opening announcements are now being made, with the clock about to begin on Level 1. The entries before the game were already almost 150, with prizes just shy of $50k, so this looks like it could be a big one.

  • Friday Side is Served with Four Cards and Bounties

    Date:Jan 16, 6 PM
    Blinds:20 Minutes
    Starting Stack:20k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~9:30 PM)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

The big game on Friday is Day 1b of the Main Event, but the side game in the eveningis a PLO Bounty game. Cards go in the air at 6 PM, and players have 9 levels to get into the game.

Players get 20k to start, and they play 20-minute levels throughout the night, so this game will have both bounties and a turbo structure driving the action. Even still, players buying into this game should expect to be at the felt for 10-12 hours.

Matt Hall, Winner of the PLO Bounty

In October, Whistler’s Matt Hall took down this bounty ring. It was his first ring, defeating Sunni Pil for a prize of $16,829. 331 entries generated a prize pool of almost $110k, with $76,130 of that awarded for prizes.

    Local Time:4:20 AM
    Wesley Peters

Jerry Li raised to 240k from the small blind before Wesley Peters potted the big to 720k. Li shoved, and Peters called his dregs behind.

Peters was on queens with a ten-four, while Li was playing ace-nine-eigh-five. Li hit aces & eights on the flop and never looked back as the board ran out A68K6. Neither player had diamonds, and Li’s two better was better than Peters’.

Elborn said he had two pair, but Oan showed a set of fours with ace-four-four-deuce and took it down. Meanwhile, two players hit the rail to set up the final table. Final table pictures will come shortly.

That makes this the biggest PLO Bounty game ever here at WSOP-C Calgary, and it wasn’t even close.

    Entries:234/392
    Prizes:$129,360 Combined Prizes ($83,692 Prizes, $39,200 Bounties)
    Local Time:7:50 PM

The PLO Bounty field is now nearing 400 entries, with 234 players still active at the felt. That puts the total prizes just under $130k, with nearly $40k of that in the bounty pool.

Level 5 is about half finished, and entries remain open for just under 2 hours.

  • More than $110k in Combined Prizes

    Level:4 (300/500/500)
    Entries:244/338
    Prizes:$111,540 Combined Prizes ($72,163 Prizes, $33,800 Bounties)
    Local Time:7:20 PM

The combined prize pool is now over $110k, with more than $70k waiting for end-of-night prizes and almost $34k in the bounty pool.
