2026 WSOPC Calgary Jan – Event #15: $400 Ladies NLH

Both of the women who were heads up tonight have a history in this game. For runner-up Eun Park, this is her second runner-up finish in the Ladies game, after she came second to Jenelle Exner in October. For Ngo, this was her second Ladies ring, and it was sort of back-to-back, as she wasn’t here for the October series, but won the ring in January.

Ngo had a huge lead in heads-up, starting more than 2:1 up, and then amassing a huge stack. In the final hand, she was dominated when Park was in with king-queen against king-four. Ngo found a four, however, and Park wasn’t able to improve.

Ngo is 6 months pregnant with her first baby, and credited the baby glow for part of her luck tonight. Her man, Vince Lam, joined her for the winner’s photos.

I missed the final action, but Ghislaine Johnson was left short after the recent hand against Annee Ngo, and she just hit the rail in 3rd place tonight.

Susan Webb ended her run tonight in 4th place.

Annee Ngo limped from the small blind, and Ghislaine Johnson checked in the big. Ngo check-called for 25k on the J♥9♦Q♣ flop. and they both checked the K♥ turn.

Ngo led for 100k on the J♠ paired river, and Johnson called, but mucked when Ngo showed pocket kings for the riverboat.

After a big hand, with a bit of a controversial side pot, Miranda Alexis was down to just 5k, which was all in from the small blind. There were three callers preflop, and after the flop of Q♣K♣A♠ Ghislaine Johnson fired out 20k to get heads up against Alexis.

Johnson had the ace-three for top pair, while Alexis was blind until she turned over nine-deuce. She turned a deuce for a chance, but the river bricked, and she was done in 5th place tonight.

They are down to 5 left after Peggy Malimowski hit the cage for 6th-place money recently. I missed the action while I was out of the room.

The Ladies game is moving quickly so far tonight, with the action down to 6 already. Jen Peters and Sheralyn King were the most recent exits from the game for 8th and 7th places, respectively.

The final table action from the stage is now on the big screen in Chrome. The new setup is being trialed tonight in the Ladies game as a preview to the Main Event action tomorrow.

The prizes are posted, and the Ladies field tonight is confirmed at 91 entries for prizes of $30,690. That puts the top prize at more than $8,500, with 14 total paid spots later tonight.

Level 8 just finished, and entries will close after the break that just began. That means there are less than 15 minutes to enter the Ladies game.

Woth 91 entries going into the break, the prize pool just pushed over $30k, but I expect at least a few more entries on the break to push that number up a little.

The Ladies Event is underway and is showing a strong start. So far 49 entries have joined with 47 remaining. Among the field are previous winners Anne Ngo, Tax Magician Fatima Nanji, multiple time champion Jenelle Exner. So far the field has drawn a total prize pool of nearly $17,000 with entries open for another three and a half hours.

Saturday is a big day at WSOP-C Calgary with three games on the schedule and two rings to be awarded. One of those rings will go to the top woman in the Ladies’ Event.

The action gets going at 4 PM, and the ladies sit down with 20k in chips. Blinds are 30 minutes, and they’ll have 8 levels of poker to buy in, putting the final entry shot at about 8:30 PM. After that, they’ll play down to the ring.

In October, Jenelle Exner took down her third Ladies ring here in Calgary. While she narrowly missed a 4th ring in January, coming 3rd in that Ladies event, she bagged both the May & Aug Ladies rings, then came back for October as well. She made it through 103 entries in this one, taking down the ring over Eun Park heads up.
