Aaron La Defeats Jacob Hobday for HR Ring
Level: 29 (75000/150000/150000) Entries: 1/205 Prizes: $641,650 Local Time: 11:35 AM
Aaron La, Winner of the HR
Jacob Hobday The final level of play in the High Roller belonged to Aaron La. He and Jacob Hobday had been trading a small lead back and forth for most of the previous level, but when blinds got to 75k/150k/150k, La seemingly couldn’t lose.
He had Hobday down to about 2 million when the chips went in with Hobday on a suited king-four against pocket sixes for La. The sixes held on a board of A♥5♥J♥9♥3♣, and La had the ring.

High Roller Final Hand He was railed at the end by both his parents, as well as his brother, and they jumped in for a few winner’s photos as well.

He got some of those chips in a recent hand where they both limped in to see 6♠7♣3♦ on the flop. La check-called for 200k.
On the J♥ turn, La checked again, and Hobday fired 650k to take it down.

Level: 24 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 5/205 Prizes: $641,650 Local Time: 7:55 PM
Allen Shen I missed the final action, but Allen Shen was left short after the huge hand that saw Jacob Hobday triple, and Alexander Wong hit the rail for 7th place. He had about 10 big blinds after the hand, and he lost that shortly after to leave the game with 5 left.
-

I missed the action on Shahin Norouzian’s 8th-place exit while I was moving into Chrome, but Alexander Wong ended up in a huge cooler that saw a lot of chips move around. He had ace-queen, and was all in with the smallest stack. Allen Shen was in with the big stack on queen-jack of clubs, but Jacob Hobday woke up with pokcet kings, and held to get a triple up.
Shen still has chips, but he’s down quite a bit now, while Hobday is stacking big. There’s a break coming following Level 25, and I’ll grab full chips then.

High Roller Starts on Sunday

Event #17: $3,500 High Roller NLH Day 1 ($3,130 + $370)
Date: Jan 18, 2 PM Blinds: 40 Minutes Starting Stack: 50k Late Entry: 12 Levels (~11:00 PM) Day 1 Ends: 15 Levels (~1:00 AM) The penultimate event on the 2026 WSOP-C Jan schedule is the High Roller. The game kicks off at 2 PM on Sunday, and the field in this game will almost certainly determine whether this series as a whole sets a new record.
That new record looks very likely based on the record prizes in the Main Event this year, but this prize pool is what will likely push the series over the top.
Players start with 50k in chips, and blinds are 40 minutes throughout the game. Players can buy in for 12 levels of poker, which should put the final buy-in chance at about 11 PM. They’ll play another 3 levels on Day 1 after that, and bag the chips after Level 15.
Players who intend to buy into the High Roller should be aware that they will be expected to provide FINTRAC details to the casino upon entry, since a large number of the prizes are likely to be over $10k. Since that is the threshold for AGLC tracking, the staff plan to speed things up by taking the information early from all players.

Andy Truong, winner of the High Roller In October, local player Andy Truong took this game down. He was heads up with Cristian Moldovan, and it was the second time in the series the players had been heads up.
In both cases, they had to settle for second place, but in this one, one of them was guaranteed to take the ring. Truong had the big stack for most of the heads-up, and ended up taking it down. The game got 140 entries for prizes of $438,200.
