Mehmet Siginc Wins Second Ring in NLH/PLO Mix

Mehmet Siginc, Winner of Event #2 Mehmet Siginc was a big stack for most of the final table tonight, and he was able to ride that big stack to his second Circuit ring in Event #2. He held steady with one of the top stacks from 10-handed down to the end.
In the final phase, he was heads up with quadruple ring winner Nicholas Lee, who was looking for his fifth. Lee was nearly out in 3rd tonight when he shoved over a raise from Siginc, but ran into pocket queens for Amir Khan. Lee was making a move with king-six, but found his king for a huge double up, and left Khan on fumes, sending the west coast player out in 3rd.
Lee was very short coming into heads up, and it looked like it might be a quick finish for Siginc. Lee had other ideas, finding doubles when he needed to, but for most of heads up, he was barely staying alive, with less than 10 bigs. Lee did manage to double up into a slight lead at one point right before the end, but a few hands later, when Siginc had retaken a small lead, they got it in when Lee shoved king-ten, and Siginc called ace-nine, with the ace-nine holding for the win.
Siginc’s first ring came in 2023 when he won the $1k Turbo, and this looks to be his fourth-best score, pushing his lifetime earnings to more than $350k.

Nicholas Lee Nicholas Lee technically had the lead for a hand or two, near the end of the game. He doubled to the lead when his ace-ten won a race against ducks for Mehmet Siginc, but he was only up by a big blind or two. A few hands later, Siginc had chipped back to a slight lead, and that’s when it all hit the fan.
Lee woke up with king-ten and shoved the button, with Siginc calling it off holding ace-nine. Siginc held to send the quadruple ring winner and soon-to-be Doctor out in 2nd place.

Amir Khan Amir Khan was just coolered out in 3rd place. After an open from Mehmet Siginc, Nicholas Lee shoved all in. Khan woke up with pocket queens, and reshoved for more.
Siginc got out of the way, and Khan’s queens looked to be in great shape against king-six for Lee. Lee found a king on the flop though, and the double left Khan with barely a big blind remaining, which he lost shortly after.
Mehmet Siginc now has about 4.5 million, while Lee is playing about 1.5 million.

Wang Takes It
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000 PLO) Entries: 90/197 Prizes: $96,382 Local Time: 7:20 PM Peter Darlington opened to 5k under the gun before Shariq “Sharqi” Khan reraised from the middle to 17k. It folded to Ning Wang on the button, and he reshoved.
That pushed Darlington out, but Khan called with A♠A♦J♣2♦ against 8♥7♠6♠5♠ for Wang. Wang flopped two pair, then turned the straight when the board ran out 7♥5♦Q♠9♥9♣. The second break of the day will start in about 3 minutes when this level ends, and I’ll grab another look at the leading stacks when they return for Level 11 with entries closed in just under 20 minutes.

Final Level of Entry
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000 PLO) Entries: 76/193 Prizes: $94,425 Local Time: 7:05 PM The prizes are nearing $85k now with 193 entries on the board. Level 10 has just begun, and this is the final level of entries. It seems likely they’ll hit 200 entries or more, with more than 30 minutes still remaining to buy into this one.
-
Sharma Time Double
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500 NLH) Entries: 82/187 Prizes: $91,490 Local Time: 6:50 PM DJ Sharma shoved for 16.4k under the gun, and without looking at his cards, Mike Malm asked “You want action, right DJ?” Sharma said yes, and Malm called blind from the middle, and the rest of the table folded.
Malm was strogner than a typical blind hand with queen-nine of hearts, but he was up against ace-king of spades for Sharma. Sharma hit his ace on the flop, but Malm found two hearts as well. The king of clubs & seven of diamonds runout improved Sharma and bricked for Malm.
Sharma’s double didn’t last long as he was seen heading for the rebuy desk shortly after. Malm, on the other hand, was down to 200 chips on this bullet, but is now playing over 200k.

There is still about an hour left to enter today’s game, so it looks like this field could easily flirt with 200 entries before the reg-desk shuts down at 7:40 PM.

There wont be much coverage of the satty game, but I’l try to keep updated on the numbers and prizes available as the night goes on.

Down to 6 Tables
Level: 12 (1500/3000/3000 PLO) Entries: 53/201 Prizes: $98,339 Level 12 has just begun with 53 players remaining in the game. I’m still waiting for the prizes to be posted, but if the numbers hold at 201, then that should mean 30 or 31 paid spots tonight with around $10k up top for the winner. Those numbers will be confirmed when the prizes are posted shortly.

Level: 11 (1500/2500/2500 NLH) Entries: 62/201 Prizes: $98,339 Local Time: 7:45 PM The final numbers are in, though they are still unofficial. It looks like the field ended with 201 entries for prizes of just shy of $100k.
Mike Malm, who was the 2024 & 2025 Alberta Poker Index Player of the Year, leads the way to start Level 11 with 255k (after being down to just 200 earlier in the day), with Peter Darlington close behind at 250k.

11+ Packages in Satty So Far
Level: 5 (300/500/500 Satty) Entries: 93/122 Prizes: $35,929 Local Time: 7:25 PM The satellite game is up to 122 entries now for more than $35k in prizes. That puts 11 packages in the pool so far, with about $1,600 left over for 12th place. Level 6 has about 15 minutes to play before the first break of the day.
-
Wang Takes It
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000 PLO) Entries: 90/197 Prizes: $96,382 Local Time: 7:20 PM Peter Darlington opened to 5k under the gun before Shariq “Sharqi” Khan reraised from the middle to 17k.

More than 60 Entries for Satellite
Level: 1 (100/100/100 Satellite) Entries: 65/66 Prizes: $19,437 6:20 PM
There are just shy of $20k in prizes in the opening level of the satellite. That means there are 6 packages up for grabs right now, with about $750 left over for 7th place, but those numbers will continue to grow through the night.
There wont be much coverage of the satty game, but I’l try to keep updated on the numbers and prizes available as the night goes on.

Nearing Last January’s Total
Level: 7 (500/1000/1000 NLH) Entries: 90/166 Prizes: $81,216 6:05 PM
The action is in Level 7 now, with about 90 minutes left to enter today’s game, and the field is just 12 entries off of last January’s total of 178. There are still 90 players in action, and it seems likely they’ll get enough entries in the next 90 minutes to beat that number.

Event #2: $600 NLH/PLO ($515 + $85)
Date: Jan 7, 3 PM Blinds: 25 Minutes Starting Stack: 25k Late Entry: 10 Levels (~7:40 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event The side action on Wednesday is the NLH/PLO mix game, which alternates between two and four cards every level. The game starts with two-card NLH in Level 1, and moves to four-card PLO for Level 2, and that pattern continues for the rest of the game.
The action starts at 3 PM, and players can enter for 10 Levels. That should put the final entry shot at about 7:40 PM, after which they’ll play to a winner before it ends.
Players get 25k to start, with 25-minute levels for the duration of the game. Breaks will come every 5 levels throughout the day.
