As the PartyPoker Tour prepares to return to Glasgow, few people are looking forward to the stop more than ambassador Natalie Bromley. For her, Glasgow is the place where the PartyPoker Tour truly found its identity. “The whole team said it at the end of last year,” she reflects. “Glasgow was the one.”
That might come as a surprise to anyone looking purely at the schedule. After all, the tour had already visited London and Manchester before arriving in Scotland. Yet it was in Glasgow that everything seemed to click. The ambassadors had found their rhythm, friendships had formed, and what had started as a new poker tour began to feel like something much bigger.
“It felt like we were a family,” Bromley recalls. “This is what we wanted our tours to be.”
One late-night memory still makes her smile. Barry Carter was making a deep run in a side event while the rest of the ambassadors, fuelled by pizza and football chants, crowded around the rail long into the early hours. By the time celebrations finished, it was nearly three in the morning, but nobody wanted the evening to end. It was only a £60 side event, yet everyone celebrated as though a major title had just been won. For Bromley, that moment perfectly captured the atmosphere the PartyPoker Tour has worked so hard to create.
That sense of belonging sits at the centre of everything she does.
By profession, Bromley is a commercial corporate lawyer, but outside the office she wears an impressive number of hats. She is a football broadcaster and commentator, host of the long-running No Nay Never podcast, a keen poker player, founder of the Hearts of Queens Initiative, and, in her own words, “a mother of a cat.” That cat, Pickles, has become something of a celebrity among those who know her, named after the famous dog that recovered the stolen Jules Rimet Trophy.
Those worlds may appear unrelated, yet they all revolve around one idea: community.
“I wasn’t ever searching for an ambassador role,” Bromley explains. “I’m there because I bring friendliness and help and altruism, and I encourage people to test themselves, to do things for their communities and to come together as a community.”
It is also why she believes the PartyPoker Tour has developed such a loyal following.
Reflecting on the recent London stop, she remembers less about battling through one of the hottest weekends of the year, when the air conditioning failed across Westfield Stratford, and more about the atmosphere it created. Players watched World Cup football together, ambassadors mixed freely with recreational players, and complete strangers became friends over meals and drinks.
“It felt like summer holidays,” she says. “There’s always somebody who gets adopted into the family.”
For Bromley, that isn’t simply a nice extra. It should be the standard.
“Without your players, you don’t have a business,” she says. “Your players are your clients. They should be your number one priority.”
That philosophy extends beyond poker itself.
Away from the tables, Bromley founded the Hearts of Queens Initiative, a charity dedicated to raising funds, equipment and awareness for women’s initiatives within the poker community. It reflects her wider commitment to making the game more welcoming and more inclusive for everyone.
In many ways, that commitment mirrors her own career.
As a lawyer, football broadcaster and poker ambassador, Bromley has built a career across three industries traditionally dominated by men. She speaks candidly about the barriers women still encounter, while acknowledging that opportunities are slowly improving.
“It’s incredibly important to have female-led voices,” she says, particularly in football broadcasting, where representation still has some way to go. She recognises that diversity initiatives may sometimes open doors, but is equally clear that keeping those opportunities depends on hard work, professionalism and earning respect through performance.
Rather than viewing those different careers separately, she believes they complement one another.
Her experience in broadcasting has helped build confidence and communication skills. Poker has introduced her to lifelong friends from around the world. Meanwhile, her legal career has benefited from the relationships those interests have helped create. As she points out, professional life ultimately revolves around people.
That ability to connect with others is perhaps why she has become such a natural ambassador for the game.
Poker, she argues, remains one of the few places where people from vastly different backgrounds can sit around the same table with a shared purpose. Recreational players compete alongside experienced professionals, lifelong friendships begin over a shuffled deck, and international communities are formed through a shared love of the game.
As Glasgow approaches once again, Bromley hopes first-time players will embrace that opportunity.
Her advice is simple.
Take your time.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
And remember that everyone was new once.
“The dealer is there to help you. The ambassadors are there to help you. Just ask.”
For Bromley, that willingness to help is every bit as important as lifting trophies. She enjoys the competition, of course, but the memories she treasures most are rarely about results. They are about the people, the friendships and the communities that have grown around the tables.
