The 2025 World Series of Poker $25,000 Heads-Up Championship Event #7 has a new champion, and it is Artur Martirosian, who managed to beat Aliaksei Boika in the final heads-up match to take down the title and $500,000 at Horseshoe and Paris Casino Las Vegas.
Artur Martirosian had a tough challenge to end up on top of 64 contestants as he had to beat some of the best in the industry, like Faraz Jaka, Kevin Rabichow, Chance Kornuth, and Patrick Leonard, before his final match. Aliaksei Boika, who came in second place, made $300,000 for his performance but will still have to wait for his first WSOP bracelet.
Martirosian has already won the WSOP bracelet, but it was in a 2023 WSOP Online $10,000 Heads Up No-Limit Championship, which makes him no stranger to performing under the brightest lights playing heads-up against tough competition. Speaking to Pokernews, he said, “It’s my favorite tournament, so I come earlier to play this event. Last year, I was unlucky in the semifinal, so I’m happy to finally win it.”
Artur Martirosyan wins one of the most coveted bracelets of the series by taking down the $25K Heads-Up Championship.
The whole match didn’t last too long as Martirosian managed to close the deal after one and a half hours of battling when he trapped Leonard by limping from the BTN and calling the shove with A♥Q♠ against Leonard’s A♦J♦. The board ran K♥10♣6♠2♠6♥, ending Leonard’s run in third place for $180,000.
Patrick Leonard
The Final Heads-Up
After beating Patrick Leonard, Martirosian had to get through the final challenge, and its name was Aliaksei Boika. The head-up battle lasted for close to four hours before Boika opened from the BTN, and Martirosian shoved, putting Boika all-in for all the marbles, and Boika quickly called. Martirosian was slightly ahead, holding A♦6♣ against Boika’s K♥Q♥, and the board ran K♦Q♦7♣, which looked fantastic on the flop for Boika. The turn 4♦ gave both players some sweat, and the shocking 9♦ on the river broke Boika’s heart, sending him to the rail in second place for $300,000.
