After four days of intense poker action in Paris and Horseshoe Casino, Las Vegas, Courtenay Williams beat the huge field of 16,301 entries to record his first World Series of Poker win for $542,540 and his first WSOP bracelet in Event #19: $500 Colossus. The event lasted four days and generated a prize pool of $6,664,102, which was split among 2,326/16,301 players who survived until the money.
Courtenay Williams beat Ramaswamy Pyloore in a heads-up battle. Pyloore finished in second place and took home $361,690 for his performance.
“I live in LA now. I play a lot of tournaments at Bicycle and Commerce. It used to be Hustler in Commerce Park, but they don’t run that anymore, so whenever there are series there, I play multi-day events. When I’m working, I’ll usually play a couple that rotate around my work,” said Williams to PokerNews.
“It’s a great start to the summer and to the year. I’m not working at the moment, and while I do have money, this is going to make it easier not to be so stressed,” added Williams.

The Final Table
After Day 3 was finished, there was still plenty of poker to be played at Event #19: $500 Colossus. As there were nine players left, Day 4 needed to settle things. All the remaining player have secured a minimal payout of $57,970 with the ambition to almost 10x their money, with the first-place prize being $542,540.
Ramaswamy Pyloore had a huge chip lead (45 big blinds) over other players with more than 2x over Sigrid Dencker, who had the second biggest stack (20 big blinds).
Justin Gutierrez was unlucky in a hand when Williams opened from UTG, Pyloore 3-bet from CO, and Gutierrez shoved from SB to get called by Pyloore. Gutierrez had 10♠10♦ and was dominated by K♥K♣ of Pyloore. To make things even worse for Gutierrez, he was drawing to one out as Williams folded A♠10♥. The board ran Q♥5♠8♥5♣A♥, and Gutierrez was the first one to be eliminated in the final table. Gutierrez collected his ninth-place reward of $57,970.
Justin Gutierrez
Kaiwen Wei opened from UTG, and Sigrid Dencker shoved from BTN, and Wei called. Sigrid Dencker had 4♥4♠ and was dominated by Wei’s 7♥7♠. The board 6♣10♠5♥3♦A♠ ran clean for Wei, and Sigrid Dencker was eliminated in eighth place for $73,880.
Sigrid Dencker
Ryan Leng shoved from CO with A♥7♦, and Kaiwen Wei called from BB with 10♥10♣. Leng was not happy when he saw he was in bad shape, and he was surely not happy when 5♦J♥K♣3♥4♦ came, eliminating him in seventh place for $94,760.
Ryan Leng
Antonio Trocoli Filho shoved from UTG and was called by Pyloore in BB. Trocoli Filho ran into A♠A♦ with his Q♣7♣, and he needed a miracle to survive. The flop 10♦8♣4♣ gave him a lot to hope for, the turn 9♦ gave him additional outs, and he also hit the top pair Q♦ on the river, but it still wasn’t enough, and he was eliminated in sixth place for $122,330.
Antonio Trocoli Filho
Jason Blodgett was in for all of his chips from CO, and Pyloore called from SB. Pyloore continued with premiums as, this time, he had 10♠10♦ and was ahead of Blodgett, who had A♥2♣. The board ran 5♦10♥4♥5♠5♥, and Blodgett was out in fifth place for $158,910.
Jason Blodgett
Matt Glantz was opened from BTN, Kaiwen Wei in BB shoved, and Glantz called. Wei had A♠4♠ vs Glatz, who had Q♠J♠, putting Wei at risk of elimination. The flop Q♣8♠7♠ gave both players a piece, the turn came 6♦, and the river 4♣ was the end of the game for Wei as he was eliminated in fourth place for $207,740.
Kaiwen Wei
Courtenay Williams shoved from SB, and Matt Glantz, who was covered by Williams, called from BB. Glantz was slightly ahead but at risk with 9♠9♣, and Williams had A♠Q♦. The board ran 5♦2♥8♦10♥A♦, giving all the hope to Glantz, just to smash him on the river with an ace. Glantz was out in third place for $273,260.
Matt Glantz
The Heads-Up
Courtenay Williams had a big chip lead (over 2:1) over Ramaswamy Pyloore coming into the heads-up battle, but the big blind was high, and one big hand could change everything. After so many lead changes, one big hand did change everything as Pyloore was short stacked, and he shoved from BTN with Q♦4♠, and Williams called with 9♠9♥. The flop 8♣5♥9♣ gave Williams a huge lead, and the 4♣ on the turn marked the unofficial end of the tournament as Pyloore was drawing dead. The 10♥ on the river was it, and Pyloore was eliminated in second place for $361,690.
